Welcome to the first edition of Good Schools Pennsylvania's E-Update!

In today's world, it is more important than ever to stay connected to our families, friends and even our jobs. It seems as if our cell phones, blackberrys and computers are never too far away.

But it is also important to us to stay connected with you -- our partners, advocates, supporters and friends. We hope you will find our our newest communication tool -- filled with news you can use, legislative developments, upcoming events, and ideas for action -- beneficial as we continue our work together to change the way our state funds public education.

Statewide Campaign Gains Momentum
At Good Schools Pennsylvania, we are encouraged to see that support for school funding reforms continue to gain momentum. Here is an update on what's happening around the state...

PA School Funding Campaign
Pennsylvania School Funding Campaign
Dozens of organizations have come together to form the Pennsylvania School Funding Campaign and are rallying behind two goals: The enactment of a new comprehensive school funding formula and a significant downpayment in the 2008-09 budget toward full implementation of the formula.

Whether you represent an organization, school, faith community or just yourself, be sure to visit the website to sign on to the campaign and work with us to make sure this is the year we finally achieve our goal of a quality education for every Pennsylvania student.

Legislative Update
The House and Senate Appropriations Committees held hearings last week to discuss the proposed education budget. The stage is now set for legislators to begin crafting a spending plan for education in the 2008-09 budget. Be sure to contact your legislators to reiterate the importance of ensuring that education reform is a high priority in this year's budget process.
