POWER Chapter Meeting:
Create a More Memorable Experience
Wednesday, June 11 - Cleveland

Join us in Cleveland at the Intercontinental Hotel for "Harness the Power of the Live Experience," a PCMA Best in Class session.  Attendees will learn how to create a greater depth of experience within the live event. Whether it's an association meeting, special event or other, you will be shown specific ways in which to create better, deeper, more creative experiences that you will never forget. This session was one of the highest rated sessions at the 2007 PCMA Annual Meeting.  Thanks to Cancun and the PCMA Foundation, we are able to bring one of the Best in Class speakers to our chapter.  More details...
2009 Chapter Leader Nominations
Thinking about getting more involved in the POWER Chapter?  We're beginning the process of the 2009 slate of officers and are seeking nominations for all committees and president-elect.  It's a great way to meet colleagues from around the region, gain new skills and impact the meetings industry with your service.

Bonus Points:
  • If you're thinking about taking the CMP exam, your service as a chapter leader provides points towards the ninety needed for certification.
  • Chapter leaders have the opportunity to attend national PCMA Chapter Leader training, including the Chapter Leadership Retreat Oct 1-3 in Williamsburg, VA.  Each Chapter is able to send two representatives, all-expenses paid.

Consider serving your chapter today!  View the committee and leadership positions HERE.  Nominate yourself or someone else by emailing Johanne Stogran at johanne@botany.org.

What's Keeping You Up at Night?

What are the industry issues keeping you up at night?  What topics do you wish you knew more about?  Help us plan the 2009 programming calendar by sending your ideas and suggestions, along with the city you'd like our chapter to visit, to incoming chapter president Sheila Fox at sfox@eventinsite.com.
2009 Party with a Purpose -
Help decide New Orleans beneficiary
One of the highlights of the PCMA Annual Meeting is Party with a Purpose.  There is a voting process to decide which organization will receive a donation from the funds raised from Party With A Purpose each year.  Each chapter gets to place one vote for the organization they would like to see benefit from this wonderful event.  Submit your choice to Community Serivce Chair Linda Paris at lparis@omnihotels.com by June 12.

The possible charities are:

THE TIPITINA'S FOUNDATION
The Tipitina's Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation dedicated to preserving the cultural legacy of New Orleans through music education for the youth and providing programs that support working musicians of New Orleans and the Gulf Region. Since Hurricane Katrina, the Foundation has donated over one million dollars worth of instruments to New Orleans Area schools as well as programs that benefit musicians of all ages.

As housing, family and financial challenges continue, we strive to remain a core resource for the music community. From providing medical services to funding gigs, our response to the needs of musicians knows no boundaries. Please support us in our efforts - we've got our finger 'on the pulse' of the New Orleans music community.
