"Being the Change"

As yoga teachers we want to inspire healthful change in our students and throughout our training as teachers we know we must be a role model of the change we'd like to see.

So, we make time for our practice and live to the best of our ability up to the standards we've set.  Our education took us so far but now our training is far behind us and we need to continue to make our classes fresh.

Art of Living provides yoga teachers a deep reservoir of knowledge and
experiences that will deepen and enhance their personal practice and thus
enliven class for their students.

Pranayama breath work, meditation, silence retreats, and study of Patanjali and the Yoga Sutras are a few of the courses offered to teachers who want to go deeper into their practice and refresh their classes.

Come, experience and learn what Art of Living can offer you and your
students. Together we will explore the depths of yoga.

Bring your mats and open your bodies, hearts and minds!

 PRESIDENT'S CORNER

Greetings Dear Sweet Yogi's!

In the wake of the horrific Aurora theatre shootings, I find myself contemplating ahimsa as I write to you today. The first of the yamas, ahimsa, is translated from Sanksrit as non-injury, non-violence, harmlessness or absence of hostility. I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around how someone could act in such a horrific way, taking so many innocent lives. Did society fail this young man? What mental state causes another human being to commit such an act of utter violence? Is there any explanation for his actions? I find it very hard not to judge and not feel anger and hostility towards this young man for the pain he has caused. Yet, he is a human being. Be kind to yourself, in your own observations of this matter. Look at the struggle that might be taking place within you as a result and take some time observe it, as you send LOVE to those who lost loved ones in this tragedy.

On a brighter note, our July Yin Yoga event hosted by Yama Yoga Village, and presented by Rochelle Townsend was a great success! Rochelle is a wonderful teacher and very knowledgable about Yin Yoga.  Here's a lovely member quote from that event "Letting go in a safe environment is essential to wholeness and balance". Thank goodness for those save environments and being able to let go!

September is YTOC Annual Members Meeting time! We'll be sending out details about that meeting very soon.
