Yin Yoga Discussion and Practice

In this two hour workshop we will move through a Yin practice while introducing the four tenets of a Yin. We will discuss the following topics:
  • Why Yin is different in form than other asana practices.
  • Some misconceptions regarding Yin.
  • An overview of connective tissue and the premise behind our ability to stretch it.

No prior Yin experience needed.  We will stretch your body and mind!

Presenter

After receiving her initial certifications, Rochelle Townsend went on to pursue a certification in Yin Teaching and has continued to study the body ever since. Rochelle holds a special fondness and appreciation for the benefits a yin practice offers to complement all of the yang activities we pursue on a daily basis. She has been privileged to both experience personally as well as watch others become relieved from physical limitations through a steady yin practice.

Although Yin is not a complete practice in and of itself, the benefits are vast for the mind and body. Rochelle has also received specialized training in Thai Yoga massage, Advanced Anatomy, Yoga for Scoliosis, Structural Yoga Therapy , Energy Medicine and Ballet Sculpt.

 PRESIDENT'S CORNER

Greetings Dear Sweet Yogi's!

We had a wonderful morning for our June Picnic and Practice event. Carrie Searles-Odom led us in a community-building practice that was very well received. After our practice, we had a wonderful breakfast with Bagels donated by Einstien's, Granola donated by Boulder Granola, Granola Bars donated by Taspen's Oraganics and yogurt, fruit, water and naked juice provided by YTOC. Most of all we just had time to visit with each other. Thanks to all the amazing YTOC board members who helped to make this event a success! Since we had such a good time together, we are thinking about making this a yearly event.

Our next YTOC board meeting is scheduled for July 28th at 1:30PM. If you are interested in attending please let me know and I will provide you with details about the location.

I'm going to keep this short and sweet for this month. It's been a busy June and looks like it's going to be an even busier July. Sending out prayers for all the victims of the fires. Please have a safe and Happy Forth of July!

Namaste'
