"The Urge to Merge"

The Yoga of Loving Relationships

Love is the elixir of life. It is the nectar that nurtures every level of our body and our being. It is what we seek more than anything else in the world. The drive for love is essentially the urge to merge.
Amrit Desai Sep 2011

However, for most people, love is so elusive we miss the true love, which unites us at the very core.

Love holds the mysterious potential for the deepest level of release and relaxation as well stress and suffering.

Love can be the most liberating or the most limiting force in our intimate relationships, where dependency and demands are destructive. When you are able to provide what you demand, it is the single solution to all conflicts you encounter in every relationship.

Discover ancient yogic secrets that can create a portal for inner transformation, where all internal conflicts mirrored in external relationships are resolved through "I AM", Integrative Amrit Methods of Yoga, Yoga Nidra and Quantum Breath Meditation. "Breath is the life of the body. Love is the life of the soul." -Yogi Amrit Desai

Presenter:

Gurudev Yogi Amrit Desai is recognized as one of the pioneers of the authentic teachings of yoga in the West. He has been repeatedly honored for following in the footsteps of many of the great spirituGurudeval Masters such as Paramahansa Yogananada and Swami Vivekenand in spreading the profound depth of the ancient teachings of India to the world.

Gurudev arrived in America in February of 1960. In 1966, he founded the Yoga Society of Pennsylvania where more than 2500 students were taking yoga classes every week. In 1983, the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health expanded to Lenox, MA and grew to be the largest holistic health center in North America. Gurudev has been repeatedly recognized both in the U.S. and abroad with rare titles such as Doctor of Yoga and the Vishwa Yoga Ratna awarded by the President of India. Today his approach is practiced by thousands around the world, with more than 5000 certified teachers in 40 countries.

Gurudev Yogi Amrit Desai lives in Salt Springs, Florida and YTOC is honored to share his time as he visit Colorado.

  PRESIDENT'S CORNER

"We are cups, constantly and

    quietly being filled. The trick

is to know how to tip ourselves

    over and let the beautiful

    stuff pour out."

             ~Ray Bradbury

As I sit to write this, my final President's Corner column, I find

myself drawn to share this quote~in deep appreciation for the

beauty I have witnessed "pouring forth" from the cups of our

dedicated Board of Directors; for the flow of insight and wisdom

shared by the still-vibrant YTOC Founding Members who joined in

celebration of YTOC's 30th anniversary; and, most especially for

the effervescent enthusiasm of members and friends throughout

the state who have offered of their time, their talent and their commit-

ment to make the Yoga Teachers of Colorado all that it can be.

I stepped into this position when help was needed, never having served

on the board.  It was a steep learning curve at first and I am most

deeply grateful to the guidance of the past president, Karin Bustamante,

and continuing directors Kerry Escobado and Michelle Corriell for all the

assistance initially given to bring me "up to speed".  These ladies have

"held the container" which has given this organization its heart and

soul for the past several years. Special thanks to Kerry for working

so diligently to create the greatly improved YTOC website last year.

New to the Fall 2009 board of directors, Sandy Kline, Shari Turney, Alli

Brook and Michelle Bressette have offered freely their time, talents

and great ideas, respectively, to produce this informative monthly news

letter, to streamline the membership process, to represent our members

on the Western Slope and to get and keep our financial records in order.

 They did, indeed...

"Make it work or make it better!"

                                                       (Anonymous)

and I thank them, each an all, for a great job done.

Thanks, too, to Angela Kljunich, Rebecka Tsvetkov, Debi Tepper and

Deonna Carolus who served partial terms and offered much. Special

recognition for Angela's talents in creating an amazing 30th Anniver-

sary dinner and program in January 2011, enjoyed by 65 members

and friends of YTOC. Truly a night to remember!

The natural blending that occurs as each new Board of Directors is

elected (every 2 years, at September's Annual Meeting)--the mix of

a few continuing board members with new, fresh faces--provides that

perfect, healthy balance of historical perspective and experience and

the bubbling, creative juices flowing from the "cups" of those newly

 "on board".

Your current board of directors is actively recruting interested members

for still vacant positions on the 2011-2013 "perfectly  blended" YTOC

Board. LET US KNOW IF YOUR ARE INTERESTED IN SERVING. We

are still interviewing for Website Manager, Newsletter Editor and

Membership Manager.  The slate of nominees will be presented

to those members present at the September 25th Annual Meeting for

immediate approval and election, and we again invite YOU to be a

physically present part of that process...

 But, that's just the beginning...

Your newly elected board will need your on-going support, your input and

your willingness to participate in the activities and programs they bring

  to you.

WE, all of us together, are the YOGA TEACHERS OF COLORADO.

All of us like "cups tipping ourselves over when we can to let the

"beautiful stuff pour out".  YTOC is only what we make it--TOGETHER.

"If YOU have a talent, use it in every which way possible.  Do not

hoard it.  Do not dole it out like a miser.  Spend it lavishly like

a millionaire intent on going broke!".

                                                                                      ~Brendan Francis

PLAN TO ATTEND THE SEPTEMBER 25th ANNUAL MEETING,

immediately following Michelle Corriell's Yoga Rocks the Park class

9:30 a.m. Alamo Placitas Park (3rd & Ogden). Be there to help

ELECT the  2011-2013 YTOC BOARD of DIRECTORS and to approve

the Board's recommended changes to the By-Laws.

We promise to keep the meeting short--about 30 minutes.

As an added treat, come early (9:30 a.m.) and enjoy the incredible

music of the nationally well-loved band, Shantala, who will also most

likely be playing during Michelle's yoga class.

What a great way to begin again!

Namaste' , and I thank you each and all for a great couple of years!

It has been my pleasure and my privelege to serve,

  Jeanne Thornton

New YTOC Member Thoughts

YTOC Aug 2011 event, Jeanne Thornton on rock

Peggy Duffy is a new YTOC member, having relocated here and wanting to get involved in our local yoga community.  She found YTOC and came to the last monthly event held at Jeanne and John Adams beautiful mountain home.  Here are her thoughts:

Recently, I moved from my childhood home of Michigan to Colorado.  It's been a transition that has been sweet and sour.

I was so excited to find the Yoga Teachers of Colorado at Yoga Rocks the Park a few Sundays after I moved.  This amazing group offers a haven for instructors to be students, to step off the teacher mat and connect with others in our community.  No matter what experience or traditions, their arms are open.  The union of like minded people who love their practice and sharing it with others, [sigh] what a find!

Aug 2011 YTOC labrinythMy first experience with the group was last Sunday.  It was titled "Two-Minute Meditation" by John & Jeanne Adams,... isn't it amazing how yoga always gives more than expected when we show up?  Wow, I received much more than I expected.  We walked a beautiful labyrinth, John lead our hike (which included wonderful conversation, graceful silence, and amazing views).

After the hike, we were lead by Jeanne through an enchanted pranayama practice and light asana practice to open our 'hiked' joints and muscles.  We held practice outside, surrounded by 100 year old trees that seemed to bow over us and offer shade.

Thunder rolled in the distance with the sound of a hawk watching over us.   We ended our practice with... the two-minute meditation.  What an amazing day.

For me, personally, being around these wonderful teachers, humbled me and strengthened me.   With the transition of moving, I was still ungrounded, being around understanding yogis helped me move to a level of comfort I could not have brought on myself.  How wonderful it is to have a group of yogis that are practicing a long with you, without judgement, just to share and grow in the loving energy that yoga encourages.

THANK YOU YOGA TEACHERS OF COLORADO!  I can't wait for our next adventure!"

Peace,

Peg
