RESTORATIVE YOGA AND YOGA NIDRA
with Kerry Escobado and Karin Bustamante

yoga nidra restorative yoga

Prepare to slow down to heal & nurture the body & mind.

Restorative Yoga creates a deep state of relaxation safely using props. Nourish the body as we practice most of the poses on the floor while being mindful of our thoughts and emotions.

Experience a kind of peaceful serenity that leaves you with less negative emotions, less tension, and with more compassion and grace. We will end the practice with Yoga Nidra.

Yoga Nidra is practiced in a supported position resting on the floor or seated. Props help to support the body physically to allow deep relaxation to occur.

What is Yoga Nidra? Yoga Nidra is a deeply relaxing and rejuvenating tantric practice that helps calm the mind. You are in a state of "conscious sleep". You may choose to explore Yoga Nidra for many reasons: deep relaxation, elimination of stress, solving personal problems, resolving or neutralizing trauma, entering deep meditation or assistance in unraveling such questions as Who Am I? Yoga Nidra in essence is a practice of self inquiry derived from ancient yoga teachings.

Please bring your yoga props to the workshop. The hosting studio, Green Mountain, will provide props as they are available. But, one can never have too many props while in a restorative yoga pose! Bring 2 blankets, 2 blocks, any bolsters you'd like to use and a eyebag.

Merry Sol Invictus!

Merry...what?

As we come into this month of December, most of us will be celebrating the joys of "holiday" in one way or another.  The ancient Romans celebrated Sol Invictus--the Return of the Invincible Sun.  We call it Winter Solstice and it is, indeed, a time of moving from these days of deepest darkness into the time of Light's Return with winter's onset December 21 (4:38 p.m. MST).

As we anticipate and enjoy this wonderful season of fellowship, extending loving kindness and peace, let us remember that for many this year, the "darkness" seems pretty pervasive as they face the challenges of unemployment, illness, grief, separation from loved ones serving our country in lands far away and other ramifications of these times we live in.

May we, as teachers and practitioners of yoga, serve as keepers and bearers of Light, remembering, as did the ancient wise ones, that it is, indeed, invincible.

Om, Jyotir aham  ("I am that Light")

Wishing you deep peace, abounding joy, the company of dear friends and loved ones and the llumination of Light, both without and within.

"When it is dark enough, you can see the stars".

                           --Ralph Waldo Emerson

 In Love and Light,
