| Sankalpa: Yoga of Resolution Feb 26 YTOC Event |
|
We often make resolutions that don't seem to last and, sometimes, we don't even know what we really want. How do we determine what we really want and then fulfill our deepest heart desires?
On Friday, February 26th, from 6-9 pm, YTOC members Hansa Knox and Bill Eager will present an enriching exploration of the yogic concept of Sankalpa, "the yoga of resolution". The event will be held at Hansa's studio, Prana Yoga and Ayurveda Mandala in North Denver.
Participants will be guided through svadyaya (self study) tools to assist in exploring mind and attitudes. Notes Hansa,"Our intention will be to determine our heart's desire, to "hear" our wisdom-self vs our ego-self and to create a power resolution to set a course of action in our life."
The sankalpa will then be rooted into the deepest part of our being through a practice of Yoga Nidra, led by Bill Eager.
HANSA KNOX: Hansa is an ongoing student of Kripalu Yoga. She has integrated work from other teachers who have offered insights on the path of yoga. She utilizes yoga, yoga cikitsa, ayurveda and massage in her practice. She owns the PranaYoga and Ayurveda Mandala in Denver where she teaches yoga classes, yoga teacher and yoga therapy training. Hansa is a past president of Yoga Allliance and Yoga Teachers of Colorado. She has served on the Board of Kripalu Center, Sanga, International Yoga College, and is an advisor to International Association of Yoga Therapy.
BILL EAGER: Bill knows the universe has plenty to offer and he is passionate about teaching how to live an inspired and healthy life. Bill is a certified yoga instructor, a Yoga Nidra Facilitator, and a Reiki and energy healer. His efforts have been featured in Yoga Journal, Shape Magazine, and Yogi Times. In addition to workshops at yoga studios across the U.S., Bill has been a presenter at Yoga Journal conferences. He is currently working with Yogi Amrit Desai and Yotran, Europe's largest yoga and work-life balance social network.

President's Corner: Our Relationship |
|
I'm always glad when February arrives. It finally feels as though the new year is official and everyone has recovered from the craziness of the holidays. Have you noticed that you are barely get your decorations stashed away when, suddenly, everything retail takes on decided hues of PINK? Hearts appearing everywhere to remind us, once again, that this is the time of year we are to celebrate our relation-ships. Wouldn't it be lovely if we could honor and treasurethe myriad of relationships in our lives, all year long?
Spiritual teacher Jack Kornfield writes, "All spiritual practice is a matter of relationship: relationship to ourselves, to each other, to life and to the Divine. Whether we like it or not, we are ALWAYS in relationship, with someone or something." What we get to practice, however, is how we go about it. Do we focus on perceived differences that create a sense of division and separation? Or do we honor that which we share; that which unites us? Our oneness? It's always a choice.
Webster's dictionary defines "relationship" as "having close connection through common origin". As fellow yoga teachers, we share a common origin in our mutual passion for yoga, our deep desire to bring the gifts of yoga's teachings to others, and a common commitment to growing ourselves professionally, personally and spiritually. Our differences, the "how" we choose to offer ourselves, just makes it all the more exciting.
In our "close connection through common origin", WE--this group of yoga teachers living and teaching together in the beautiful state of Colorado--we are in relationship with one another. Let's honor and celebrate that, for in it are we all enriched and strengthened.
"Love does not consist in gazing at each other, but in looking outward together in the same direction."
Antoine De Saint-Exupery
Namaste',
Jeanne Thornton, YTOC President
