Summertime affords us the opportunity to relax and enjoy, allowing for the pace of life to slow down. Take a hike or stroll around the garden. But if you feel... The dragonfly can't quite land on that blade of grass. - by Matsuo Basho (The Dragonfly) Especially, if you find life is still at full speed then create the space for fun and join us at YTOC's
summer events! On Saturday July
25, 2009 at 7:30 PM we will meet at Littleton Yoga Center for Kirtan.
On Saturday August 29, 2009 at The Enchanting Mountain Moon Yoga Studio
in Winter Park, Colorado we will meet for chanting. And there are lots
of wonderful events happening around town hosted by our member studios.

As a reminder......
Here are different ways to maximize your membership:
1. Visit YTOC website often for updates
2. Build new connections by spending only 15 minutes to update your YTOC profile with a bio and picture.
3. Help us educate the community by forwarding your YTOC e-newsletter to 1 family or friend each month
4. Get in the spotlight by being a presenter for a YTOC monthly event. This is a great, cost-effective way to market yourself and you get lots of social support.
5. Enrich your life by attending a community event.
6. Spend 15 minutes to post your own events at your YTOC Events Page. Did you know that as long as you post on the website, it will also be included in our monthly e-newsletter? It circulates to over 200 and growing contacts each month! Just another cost-effective method to market yourself.
7. Find new classes and teaching opportunities on our Message Board
8. Send us feedbacks so we can listen and continually make YTOC a stronger community.
9. Link YTOC from your website and help grow the community. It's all a stimulus! You help to create more events, opportunities, growing social & professional networks, and more marketing opportunities for yourself and your studio.

Details: Tom has been leading weekly kirtans at his home in Littleton and at other locations around the Denver area since 2004. He also plays and sings with Bhakti Shakti in Boulder on Sunday nights at Studio Be. Tom says he plans to keep his day job as a civil engineer, businessman, and entrepreneur. "Kirtan has become part of my spiritual practice, my meditative practice. There is no call to turn it into a career. Through the practice of devotional chanting (bhakti yoga), I discovered that our musical nature, our emotional nature, our devotional nature can all be utilized as spiritual practice, drawing us ever deeper into our own being, our own true Self."
This practice is for anyone who is attracted to it. This attraction, and the recognition of the attraction is, in fact, the essence of the practice. There is no particular training or spiritual heritage required for this to happen. Everyone has the ability to sing, whether they know it or not. Our voice is our own natural musical instrument and singing to the divine is as natural as anything else under the sun. Children know this. We grown-ups have forgotten it. Once we start, something inside takes over, frees us from our mind, and allows our deeper recesses expression. And through the practice, we also discover that those deeper recesses are trust-worthy, contrary to much of our conditioned thinking.
Tom Says: My role as a leader or 'kirtan wallah' as some call it, is simply to create the space and start the engine. As Rumi said: 'there is a field out there beyond right and wrong. I'll meet you there'."
