| March 2009: Yoga for Women's Life Stages |
|
|
Date: March 28th, 2009
Time: 1:00 -4:00 PM
Location: Healthful Journey Yoga
80 Garden Ctr Ste 3,
Details:
As Modern Women, we face ever-increasing stress from a fast-paced and technology driven society, work and family demands, and we run around like hamsters on treadmills. We try to find moments of connection with our families and friends on the fly, yet deep inside we feel there's something missing! Women long for a sense of connection, comfort, and nurturing, yet we the last thing we do is nurture ourselves, as we're "too busy" nurturing others. Yoga helps us to feel more connected to ourselves and to a larger community of women who also feel the need for connection. Practicing yoga, we gain flexibility and learn how to be adaptable in facing the changes we go undergo during the course of our lives. We watch our bodies change through the stages we pass through from childhood to womanhood, through our fertile years as we experience the miracle of pregnancy and birth, and our transformation again during menopause. This workshop explores specific practices for all stages of women's lives to help us better understand and cope with the changes our bodies undergo throughout these stages.
In this workshop you will learn:1. Brief overview of women's life stages 2. Specific practices for each life stage: a. adolescence b. fertile years c. menopause and beyond 3. Common ailments and helpful practices for each stage 4. How To Take Time For YOU!!! Donna Brown has been a steady yoga practitioner for 13 years and has taught yoga for 7 years. She has her own yoga studio, Healthful Journey Yoga, and offers Hatha Yoga classes for all levels of practice, as well as individual yoga therapy sessions for those who have specific health issues they would like to work on. Donna is also a registered nurse who has worked for many years in hospitals, clinics, and doctors offices, and brings a wealth of nursing knowledge to her fun and informative workshops.
