A note on "Yoga in Prisons"

Dear YTOC members:

There was a small confusion in the last newsletter sent out, and so this e-mail is intended to clarify the date of our February event, as well as provide more details:

Yoga in Prisons with Terry Lalley, Carol Sullivan & Erica Bonham

Date:  February 8th, 2009 (not Feb. 22nd)
Time: 2-4PM
Location: Denver Whole Yoga
1735 E. 17th Ave. Denver, 80218

"Of all the classes that I've had the opportunity to teach weekly, the highlight for me, what being a yoga teacher is all about, is my 90 minutes plus with the ladies at the Denver prison," says Terry Lalley, who founded the yoga program at the Denver Women's Correctional Facility four years ago. Also teaching at the Denver women's prison are Carol Sullivan and Erica Bonham. Terry says, "Sharing and giving freely is what being a human being is all about."

Terry, Erica, and Carol teach yoga classes in studios and volunteer-settings throughout metro Denver.  They observe that seva yoga can both ground and uplift their lives & teaching.  On Feb. 8th, the teachers will guide us through a practice similar to what they teach in prison, also they will talk about yoga in a prison setting. Finally, they will propose launching a YTOC directory of seva yoga opportunities in Colorado.

Be sure to mark your calendars for this great event!

Namaste,

YTOC Library

Did you know that YTOC has a library, and that we have many great items for you to check out?  If you are a YTOC member and wish to borrow any library item, e-mail Susan Merrill at asanasue@yahoo.com, or make arrangements at one of our meetings.

YTOC now has most of the Back Issues of Yoga Journal from 1990-2001!

We can share back issues with you. For example, maybe you want an in-depth analysis of an asana or a style of yoga you are researching. We can help you locate that issue. You can use this service just as you use the library for renting out video and audio tapes. Please go to the library page of the YTOC website (www.ytoc.org) for a listing of our library materials.
