Holiday Give-A-Thon Exceeds Goal
| |
United Way St. Croix Valley's first online Holiday Give-A-Thon, held during the month of December, exceeded its goal of $2,000, raising a total of $2,122.
The total includes a $1,000 match from fundraising processor Razoo, who matched the first $1,000 raised dollar for dollar.

The money raised through this fundraiser will go towards the United Way Food Resource Center's December food shipment, which has provided food to hungry families this holiday season.
United Way St. Croix Valley thanks the Holiday Give-A-Thon fundraisers and donors for making this project a success.

Lutheran Social Services Provides Mental Health Service Locally
| Through contributions to United Way St. Croix Valley from generous donors, Lutheran Social Services is able to provide mental health services to residents of St. Croix and Pierce Counties.
Funds are used to pay for the cost of mental health counseling for people who are underinsured or uninsured and who could not otherwise afford to pay for services.
These funds allow Lutheran Social Services to offer a sliding fee scale to reduce fees and, in extreme need, offer mental health counseling free of charge for a limited time.
Snapshot of Success Tim sought counseling to help him learn new ways to cope with his depression and loneliness. He was under great financial strain due to a recent divorce and needed to figure out how to support himself and his two children while taking care of his own mental health.
Fortunately he was able to use Lutheran Social Services Outpatient Mental Health Clinic using a sliding fee scale as he did not have mental health coverage.
After several counseling sessions he was able to reduce his depressive symptoms and reach out to his friends and family and community for support. He also began to find renewed enjoyment in his hobbies of fishing, reading and playing with his children.
Tim's story of success is possible thanks to United Way St. Croix Valley and support from the local community.
