From the Executive Director
I often get asked "What is Bethesda Green?" People recognize we offer many excellent green programs but are unsure how they are tied together.
Fair question.
Simply put, Bethesda Green brings business, government and community together to promote a healthy economy and sustainable living practices. The goal is to reduce our collective impact on the environment. This is done in three ways:
- Incubation -- Stimulate the next generation of green business models and solutions.
- Education -- Raise awareness and inspire action through programs, online tools, and our Resource Center.
- Initiation -- Develop, manage and promote innovative green programs that leverage community assets.
Our Green Business Incubator -- showcased in this remarkable video by our own incubatee, Mark Leisher Productions -- hosts 11 green companies and recently announced a partnership with the University of Maryland to support its expansion. Our educational efforts often are initiated through partnerships. Coming soon, Montgomery College is offering courses at Bethesda Green toward a Green Energy and Sustainability Practitioner Certificate, and we are co-hosting a program with the Gazette highlighting Maryland businesses that have "gone green." Please visit our calendar for more details about upcoming programs and events. We thank all of our local partners and sponsors for their commitment and support as they lead the way to a greener Bethesda. Dave Feldman Executive Director |
Greening Condos
Starting Wednesday, March 2, Bethesda Green, ecobeco, and event sponsors will present a free series of panel discussio ns focusing on greening condominiums. The five monthly sessions are scheduled at Bethesda Green on the first Wednesday every month through July. Sessions run from 7-9 pm. Light appetizers will be served.
The Greening Condos series targets residents, boards, property managers, and companies that provide green services to condominiums. The goal is to make it easier for residents to take action to improve their building's environmental impact, to save energy, and to lower their utility bills for both units and common areas. March 2 Session: Introducing Energy Audits for Condo Buildings. Learn how your condo can win a grant for up to $75,000 from Montgomery County.

Aquabarrel
any people support water conservation. But only some go the distance to actually collect and use rainwater in their household.
www.Aquabarrel.com exists for those who DO. Founder Barry Chenkin sells a wide range of off-the-shelf water collection and storage systems to homeowners who find the surmountable challenge in such work.
Aquabarrel's "green" product line also fits right in among the other "green-izens" of the Bethesda Green Business Incubator.
