From the Executive Director
This month, we are taking stock of our year-end accomplishments and setting the groundwork for an exciting year in 2011. We'll be sharing details soon, but for now, let me extend our gratitude to all the volunteers, partners and sponsors who make it all possible.
High among the Bethesda Green successes is the growth and development of our Green Business Incubator as an engine of job creation in the community. We're starting to see tangible results and will begin sharing stories from our 11 companies in the new year.
Other highlights include: - Educating thousands of people about renewable solar energy and simple efficiencies to cut carbon output and save money.
- Organizing e-cycling days (see below) in partnership with Montgomery County, collecting tons of TVs, computers and other old electronic equipment.
- Convening an internship fair providing hundreds of young people a gateway to future careers.
- Hosting our first gala spotlighting businesses and individuals as champions of sustainable living.
- Strengthening ties between the urban and rural communities in the local agricultural food chain.
- Installing dozens of new recycling bins in downtown Bethesda in partnership with Federal Realty Investment Trust.
Going forward, we plan to germinate the seeds we've sown to build a sustainable future. You can play a key role in supporting that effort by making a donation online or sending a check to 4825 Cordell Avenue, Suite 200, Bethesda, MD 20814.
Happy New Year to everyone.

E-Cycling Day at Whitman High School

On a cold, dreary Sunday afternoon, 641 vehicles drove through the Whitman High School parking lot to drop off tons of e-waste for recycling. A big shout out to the Whitman Green Team for helping move traffic and unloading cars.
For more details, see the Green Around Town column posted on Patch.com.
New feature: check out the e-cycling video highlight package produced by Mark Leisher of Green Roads TV, a Bethesda Green Business Incubator company.
