Ready
for some good news? September was a great month for Bethesda Green...
*
Our theme-of-the-month program got a rousing kick off with an introduction
to our green curriculum at September's Be Green Showcase at the Bethesda Hyatt
Regency. We had 40 booths and Le Pain Quotidien and Organic to Go supplied awesomely
delicious organic food for the 400 people who came to learn about "going green".
* The
IRS approved our 501(c) (3) status.
* Bethesda Green launched a new website built on a robust
contact management system. We will now be able to easily share green
tips, add local resources and showcase community best practices each month.
* A
special big thanks to our partner, Chevy Chase Bank, for providing us
with office space on the 2nd floor of their building on the corner of
Cordell and Woodmont Avenues. In addition to offices, the space will
house an education center, a showcase for local sustainability
solutions and a incubator to encourage the launch of local green
initiatives. We're shooting for a November opening.
* In
addition to showcase studies on how to improve your bottom line by
becoming more energy efficient, we are celebrating Energy
Efficiency Month by introducing several new programs including:
- a
way to purchase clean energy with partner Clean Currents
- home energy
audits with partner, Maryland High Performance with Energy Star
- a
free panel event Wednesday, October 29, 7-9 p.m. at the County Service
Center, titled "Achieving an Energy Smart Home or Office: Saving Money,
Energy and the Community"
