September is known as the 'Back to School' month - the transition from summer and the beginning of a new year of learning. Bethesda Green is introducing its own Back to School program. Now eight months old, we begin a new season of 'green' education for students, residents and businesses. Here's what we have coming up. 'Be Green' Showcase Since our kick-off in January, we have been in a growth frenzy of community engagement, green project introduction and infrastructure building. On September 24, we are hosting a 'Be Green' Showcase at the Bethesda Hyatt to both celebrate our progress and launch our next phase. This FREE event is open to everyone in the community and will showcase some of our local initiatives, partners and ideas. We will provide food, drink and music, more than 25 information tables and exhibitors and plenty of opportunity for networking. Mark your calendars and visit our website to register. Green Themes September marks the official kick-off or our monthly program. Each month, we will focus on a specific topic and weave it into our newsletters, website, events and initiatives. Upcoming programs include Energy Efficiency, Recycling, Green Purchasing, Health & Wellness, Sustainable Transportation and Greening the Home. Website Bethesda Green launched a new website this week. Though in early stages, it is built on a new platform, a content management system that allows us to add content easily and regularly. We have several new sections including a 'Community Corner' that showcases good examples of local 'green' activities and 'Green Programs' which will be chock full of sustainability links and ideas. There are also several sections that recognize our local green leaders including volunteers, supporters and sponsors. Please visit the site often as we will add new content monthly. www.bethesdagreen.org See you at school!
