It's Personal...

"When we moved from Columbia to Virginia, it didn't occur to us that we could still count on you to be our personal car shopper. Thank you for your hard work and dedication. You've always made it so easy!"
-Theresa Monts, Meadows Of Dan, VA

Taking your car purchase or lease personally is what we do. As a small business, we understand the care and trust our clients place in our abilities to deliver exactly what they want. That's because we take the time to learn about and advise you personally.

Dealers often want you to purchase or lease something they have in inventory. Oftentimes this means a sacrifice on your part - color, wheels, accessories or most importantly, time. It takes a substantial time investment to shop multiple dealerships, talk to a variety of different salespeople, compare multiple prices and incentives, do the research, and make a decision from so many options. Who has time?

For nearly 10 years The Automotive Advisor has delivered personal service to car buyers and lessees. Many of our clients come back again and again. Not just because we deliver a make or model in a certain color at a great price, but because we deliver personal service they know they can count on. Our clients trust us, and we're happy to earn that trust every time.

When planning your next automotive purchase or lease, think of The Automotive Advisor first!

Sincerely,
Joey C. Bouknight

CARS (Car Allowance Rebate)
a/k/a "Cash for Clunkers": The Basics

If you have an older vehicle that gets 18 MPG or less combined city and highway, and you're ready to make your move to a new car, now may be the time.

As you've probably heard, the CARS program is in full swing. CARS allows a rebate of up to $4,500 against the PURCHASE or LEASE of a NEW vehicle. We handle all the details, helping you with your purchase or lease under CARS, as well as with rebates and any additional incentives offered by the dealer.

There are some qualifiers, of course, and we're happy to answer all your questions. The program ends on November 1, 2009 or when funds are exhausted.

Tips for Saving Money on Car Insurance

. Get quotes from several different companies at least once a year. The provider that cost the least last year may no longer be the leader in low rates, and rates can vary widely. For example, the State of South Carolina compiled a table showing annual premiums from different providers for the same car, coverage, deductible and driver profile for each county in the state. In Richland County, quotes ranged from $928 to $2483. It pays to shop around.

·  Maintain a good credit rating and keep tabs on your credit report.
When determining premiums, insurers place a lot of weight on the policyholder's credit score. A low credit score can increase your premium by as much as 50%.

·  Consider higher deductibles. Increasing a $250 deductible to a $1,000 deductible can drop your premium by 25% to 40%. You can put the money you save aside and let it earn some interest, should you ever need to file a claim. Plus, if you fix that $500 fender bender out of pocket, you can avoid a premium increase. This will save you money in the long run.

· Always ask about discounts. Some insurers offer discounts to seniors, veterans, teachers and other civic or professional groups. Most insurers will provide you with a list of who's eligible. It's always worth asking.

·  Find out if carriers offer lower mileage discounts for drivers that drive less than the norm per year. Many do.

·  Consider dropping collision and comprehensive coverage on older vehicles. Sometimes it's just not worth it to pay for insurance to fix or replace a car that's no longer worth very much, especially if you are a careful driver. A good rule of thumb is to add your collision and comprehensive premiums and multiply by 10. If your car is worth less than this amount, you should consider dropping coverage. Research shows that the average policyholder files a damage claim only once every 11 years and a claim for a totaled vehicle every 50 years. Just remember that if there is a lien on your car, most loan contracts require you to maintain comprehensive and collision coverage until you pay off the loan.

Remember, these are only suggestions. Changes to your coverage should always be made very carefully. Please consult your insurance professional.
