In this video interview, Laura Archuleta sees the silver lining in the dissolution of California redevelopment agencies...

  • In the most immediate timeframe, there are some real opportunities for land and some agreements we have in place that will hold for the next few years...

  • Building affordable housing is being accepted by the majority of our communities. People on the whole understand the need ....

  • The demand for affordable housing continues to be huge. When we open developments here in Irvine, we'll have four to five thousand people on the waiting list. With that type of demand, the attention for the need will grow...

  • Sacramento really sees the need for affordable housing. We have verbal commitments in finding a way to help fill the gap and get more homes built. We definitely brought affordable housing to the forefront; people know it's a huge issue in many communities throughout California for a variety of reasons. We will start to see solutions coming forward, there already is new legislation up in Sacramento. The hope is that by early next year, we'll see some dollars to help fill the gap and keep development moving.
