| President's Message |
|

Jamboree is so much more than the bricks and mortar that creates affordable housing. Our goal is to provide opportunity for our residents through award-winning quality housing and services designed to meet the needs of each community.
Since 2001, Jamboree's in-house Resident Services Group, Housing with HEART (Helping Educate, Activate and Respond Together), has filled a critical gap by tailoring essential services, tools and resources to fit the needs of our residents, helping them to become more self-sufficient and enhancing the overall quality of community life. Currently, Housing with HEART serves 36 of our communities.
Take a glance at some of the great work our team is doing across the state. These programs exemplify how Housing with HEART creates environments that foster learning, communication, and resident involvement and empowerment.

| Granite Court HEART Warming

In May, Irvine's Granite Court residents were welcomed by Housing with HEART, property management John Stewart Co. and more than 12 Irvine-based community organizations. The day featured family activities and great information. As a participating representative from Lakeview Senior Center said, "Housing with HEART is unique in the way it looks out for residents and works together to build a community inside its properties." |

Neighborhood Beautification
In Long Beach, our Puerto Del Sol youth participated in a series of eco-friendly activities throughout March and April. Lucy Marquez, the Resident Service Coordinator, empowered participants to identify and rectify areas in their community that needed attention. The team of zealous teens created a campaign to encourage Long Beach residents to recycle and tend to a "sick planet." City officials and other youth programs also joined in planting trees in the community.
At our Diamond special needs community in Anaheim, housing the formerly homeless and their families, Resident Service Coordinator Josselyn Wheeler, along with service partners H.O.M.E.S and TeleCare, created a weekly resident cooking class. The recipes are fun, easy, and very economical. The class has received high praise from residents, and cooking and baking contests are now an ongoing part of this community's festivities.

Girl Scout Leaders
The Girl Scouts of America has made its way into the hearts of children at our Fontana properties. So many girls were interested that our Resident Service Coordinators Carol Almendarez and Naddy Munguia became troop leaders to jumpstart this adventure. They are excited to be fundraising with their troops to purchase uniforms and support activities.
Awareness & Training
In Corona Park and Cienega Gardens (Covina), Resident Service Coordinator Michael Moreno collaborated with Project Sister and Riverside Area Rape Crisis Center to provide training in self-defense, education in sexual and child abuse prevention, and classes in parenting, anti-bullying, and Internet safety and identity theft awareness. |
| Arts Enrichment |
|
Jameyla Kiswani, Resident Services Coordinator at our Hastings Park community in Antelope, created a youth program to promote self-expression through poetry. Students learned about poetry as a creative avenue and performed for patrons at a local café in downtown Sacramento.
African Drumming In Sacramento, Shenandoah and Breckenridge youth learned the basics of drumming and its rich history from Tyehimbe Kokayi, a professional drummer. Students held a special performance to show off their new skills.

The mission of The Cambodian Family is to promote social health -- family, physical and mental health, job enrichment, childhood education and community building. The Cambodian Family and Housing with HEART have developed a variety of quarterly programs to enhance the lives of our Santa Ana residents, such as: Take it to the Streets (community cleanup), Healthy Changes (health screenings) and Eco-Friendly Week (teaching children how to recycle at home). |
