Reflections: Why I Love the Land

The Trust has begun asking our supporters -- people just like you --
to give us their reflections on why they love the land and their connection
to conservation.
Here are a few:

"There is nothing more relaxing then driving past the cornfields and horse farms on the way to the beach in Bridgehampton and Sagaponack."
~~Stuart Zuckerman

"Land conservation is first and foremost about people. It is people, after all, who love this beautiful place - people who live, work and vacation here. And it is only by working with people that we can understand our relationship to the land and how it informs our sense of community."
    ~~Nancy Gilbert & Richard Wines

We will be creating a section on our website for reflections from our community on land, land conservation and nature. Please send us your thoughts. We'd love to hear from you!

Norwest FarmsDespite the threatening forecast, the Peconic Land Trust's annual thank you party, the Peconinic, turned into a beautiful day at

an extraordinary place:

Norwest Farm in Aquebogue.

Elizabeth Schaffner's horse farm was the perfect setting for this annual early summer pot luck -- overlooking the horsehaywagon ride at Peconinic paddocks and featuring some amazing equestrian demonstrations by the young riders in the stables.

As always, the food was delicious -- with some amazing recipes brought to the table. Music by Jazz on the Half Shell filled the tents and fields, and oysters from Shellfisher Preserve were once again the hit of the party.
