SNAP reaching underserved Oregonians
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) continues to play a vital role in reducing hunger with more than 800,000 Oregonians currently receiving assistance. However, not all who are eligible are getting the help they need.

Two out of three eligible seniors are not accessing SNAP and Spanish-speaking Oregonians have low participation.

Partners has been working to connect seniors to SNAP benefits, helping them afford the nutritious foods their doctor's recommend. Most are on fixed incomes, so SNAP can make a big difference in their household budget.
We are excited to highlight a new partnership with KUNP TV - Univision Portland to help provide information to their viewers through interviews on the Cita con Nelly show and the Salud es Vida newscast.
Feast with us this fall
In 6 short weeks Portland will be overtaken by a festival of Oregon food and drink- a celebration with a soul. While 4 days of tasting, sipping and savoring will leave your body satisfied (ok, probably stuffed), the fact that your ticket will help end childhood hunger should feel great as well.

We're excited to be a beneficiary of this exciting new festival, along with our national partner, Share our Strength. And we're looking forward to meeting lots of new folks who care deeply  about food and nutrition.

Want to help?
Buy a ticket to one of over 30 different events - from a speaker series featuring the New York Time's Mark Bittman, to an Asian inspired Night Market, and workshops on everything from brewing blueberries to pig butchery.

Volunteer. Hundreds of hands will be needed to make this a great success. Whatever your skills and interests- they will help! Contact the folks at Feast and they will plug you in.
And the winner is...
We recently held two drawings to acknowledge our supporters. And the winners are......*drum roll*:

Kim Thomas, long-time donor, was selected in our "End of the Fiscal Year" drawing to receive 2 tickets to attend an event at Feast Portland (see article above to buy your own tickets).

Lindsay Sauve, a loyal E-newsletter reader, took our survey last month and won a gift card.

Thanks to everyone who took our survey and donated. Now, who said fighting hunger wasn't fun?
Thank You!
Thanks to Portland's mayoral candidates who both visited a summer food site for kids.

Charlie Hales helped pass out lunches to kids at Harrison Park, and Jefferson Smith made a YouTube video on the importance of summer programming and healthy meals for kids.
