2011 State Legislative Session Wrap-up
Oregon state capitolAfter much hard work and with help from many of you, there were a number of successes during the 2011 legislative session for Oregonians at risk of hunger. AND there is much more to do in 2012 and beyond.

Read our wrap-up report to learn more and to see how you can help.

Summer Meals for Kids

We have had much to celebrate this summer!

PHFO was able to raise $176,000 from generous businesses and foundations (see left), which we awarded to 29 Summer Meal programs.

We were joined by the Governor and First Lady of Oregon at a kick-off in Independence. In Portland, State Superintendent Susan Castillo made the connection between nutrition and learning. A midsummer celebration with Clackamas elected officials kept us energized. Thanks to all our guests and supporters for making these events possible.

New partners, KOIN Local 6 and Safeway, are highlighting the meal program through the launch of "Operation Lunchbox". The additional exposure has helped boost the number of families seeking Summer Meal sites and increased the chances all kids stay well fed, even when school is out!
