Oregon children starting their day on empty
| |
FRAC released their annual School Breakfast Scorecard this week. The report shows many Oregon children missing out on the nutrition they need to start their school day. The national School Breakfast Program can make a big difference. Read the press release.
2009-2010 school year:- 110,158 low-income Oregon children participated in the national School Breakfast Program.
- This number represented roughly half the children who ate free and reduced price lunches (51%).
- If Oregon served 60%, an additional 18,120 children would get breakfast in the morning and Oregon communities would gain an additional $4.3 million.

- Embarked on a food stamp challenge to live on a severely reduced food budget for a week
