 Phillips Hardware Ribbon Cutting/Grand Re-Opening

Join Phillips Hardware as they celebrate the addition of two new lines to their Delmar store (Carhartt clothing line and Stihl power equipment and accessories) while supporting the new development of the Elsmere Playground.  Student artwork will be displayed of hopeful designs for the new playground, along with refreshments and professional martial arts demonstrator (and Delmar store manager) Ric Kaplowitz in martial arts uniform.

FREE ADVERTISING FOR MEMBERS

The Chamber's Retail and Hospitality Committee will be promoting our Think and Buy Bethlehem Shop Local initiative at the Delmar Farmer's Market, beginning Saturday, June 2nd.  The Chamber will be promoting member businesses to the public to encourage the use and support of our local businesses.
GET INVOLVED!
Member businesses may provide marketing materials, coupons and special offers for distribution at the Market. Please drop materials off (200+ quantity) at the Chamber office by Thursday, June
14th to be included on June 16th.

Member volunteers are also needed to staff the Chamber space throughout the summer and Fall. This is a great opportunity to highlight your business and meet new contacts.

  The Bethlehem Children's School is accepting registrations for its slate of programs offered this summer. Twelve week-long programs are offered for children entering kindergarten through grade two this fall. Eighteen weekly programs are offered for children entering grades three through eight."Our first camp begins bright and early Monday, June 11, and our last program ends the week of August 27 - 31. Each week is different, and each one is an interesting, child-centered program" said Ralph Fahnestock, the school's director of programming, outreach and development and the summer program director. COMMUNITY HAPPENINGS  

 

Delmar Farmers Market every Saturday,  at the Bethlehem Middle School from 9 am to 1 pm. Join local businesses and farms at this great event that runs every Saturday from June 2nd through December.   

 

The Delmar Reformed Church will be holding a BLOOD DRIVE this Wednesday, June 13th between 1:00PM - 6:00 PM  (386 Delaware Ave., Delmar).  Please contact the American Red Cross at 1-800-RED CROSS to schedule an appointment. All presenting donors will receive a Best Buy coupon!    

 

Bethlehem Garden Tour & Plant Sale is Wednesday, June 13 from 4- 8 pm, rain or shine. The plant sale will be held from 3 - 7pm at the Delmar Presbyterian Church at 585 Delaware Ave. Tickets for the garden tour are $15 and are on sale at the plant sale and at the Slingerlands Price Chopper Parking lot from 4 - 6:30 pm.

Community Clean-Up Day Saturday, June 16 from 9 am - 12 pm. Volunteers are needed and should meet at the Bethlehem Town Hall for supplies and assignments. Friends of the Rail Trail, a committee of the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy invite you to enjoy the first-ever "Fireflies and Fairy Tales" event, welcoming the public to enjoy free activities like music, international storytellers, theater performers, night creatures, crafts, Yoga in the Wild and refreshments. Activities will take place between Adams Street and Gardner Terrace from 7 - 10 p.m.     

     

Join Jon Phillips (of Phillips Hardware) and his family to support the 3rd Annual Stride 4 Stride 5K Race/2.5K Community Walk & Wheelchair Roll on Saturday, June 23rd at the Corning Preserve at Albany's Riverfront.  All of the funds raised will go directly to Stride and are 100% secure, tax deductible donations. AROUND THE REGION...

Capital Region Economic Development CouncilThe 2012 Regional Economic Development Council will present the next Capital Region Consolidated Funding Workshops on
June 19, 2-4 pm in Hudson at Columbia-Greene Community College and on June 22, 9:30am-12pm in Queensbury at Adirondack Community College.

Up to $750 million dollars will be available through the second round of funding by the Economic Regional Councils. For more info, click here. The next meetings of the Capital Region Economic Development Council will be Friday, June 22 at 2 pm, September 11 at 2pm and November 14 at 9 am.  


Congressman Paul Tonko's office will be offering a training workshop on finding and applying for grants. The workshop will be held on Monday, July 16, 2012, registration begins 9 am and the workshop will be from 9:30 - 11 am and will be held at the Life Sciences Research Building, D'Ambra Auditorium - SUNY Albany (1400 Washington Ave., Albany). Staff from Grants.gov will teach a workshop focused on the registration and find and apply process. Participants can bring a laptop, tablet or other wi-fi enabled mobile device to follow along and bookmark. To register call 518-465-0700 . (A second session may be added if necessary.)
