Berkshire Bank has selected 18 high school seniors to receive a total of $36,000 in scholarships through its Berkshire Bank Foundation Scholarship Awards Program.  Each of the recipients will receive $2,000. Among the recipients is Kelly Pelletier from Bethlehem Central High School.

Community United Methodist Church in Slingerlands will offer a new mini-series in May, Finding Spirit in the Ordinary which will explore how members of other traditions seek to integrate their faith into everyday life. Each session, held on Wednesdays from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm in the church library at 1497 New Scotland Avenue, features a guest speaker, discussion and an activity illustrating the philosophy of the speaker's group on everyday spirituality.  Three different sessions will be offered beginning May 16th, attend one or all three.

Community Caregivers will hold its 8th Annual Community Caregivers Golf Tournament on Monday, June 18 at the Orchard Creek Golf Club in Altamont. They are currently looking for   event sponsors for this major fundraising event. Community Caregivers provides essential services -at no cost- to residents of Berne, Bethlehem, Guilderland, Knox and New Scotland. Greenfest 2012 sponsored by the Bethlehem Children's School. Saturday, May 19 from 10 am - 5 pm. Join the Bethlehem Children's School at this fun-filled entertaining event. They will be dedicating their new Greenhouse built from recycled two-liter soda bottles! To see the list of activities planned view their flyer.

   

The Town of Bethlehem will hold a Community Cleanup Day, Saturday, May 19 at 9am until 12pm or as long as you can participate. Volunteers will meet at Town Hall at 9:00am to get supplies and safety instructions. The clean up destination will be the Memorial Day Parade route. The Bethlehem Business Women's Group invites you to join them for their "Spring Trip to the Culinary Institute of America" on Tuesday, May 22, 2012. The event includes a one hour tour of the Culinary Institute, lunch at 11:30 am at the Caterina de Medici Restaurant and a trip to the Adams Fairacre Farms to visit their indoor/outdoor nurseries and garden center. The Yankee Trails bus leaves at 8 am from the Park & Ride lot on Delaware Ave opposite the Delaware Plaza. The cost for the day is $85. Reservations and payment are being accepted through April 2nd to guarantee your seat. AROUND THE REGION...

Albany International Airport is conducting an important Air Service Development Survey designed to gather information on the air travel requirements of businesses and business leaders in our region. The results of the survey will be most helpful to the Airport, our existing airlines and potential new carriers when making decisions regarding improvements, new routes and new destinations available from Albany. Please take a few moments to complete the survey, accessible at this survey link.

 

Capital Region Economic Development Council The 2012 Regional Economic Development Council will present the next Capital Region Consolidated Funding Workshop on May 21st, 10am-12:30pm at the Empire State Plaza in Albany. Up to $750 million dollars will be available through the second round of funding by the Economic Regional Councils. For more info, click here. The next meeting of the Capital Region Economic Development Council will be Friday, June 22 at 2 pm. 

 

Local First of the Capital Region will present Local Lift on Thursday, May 17, 8:30-1pm at the HVCC TEC-SMART Campus in Malta. This symposium is for businesses, individuals and community organizations to learn and share together. The event will begin with a panel discussion and include breakout sessions and exhibitors.
