Capital Region Economic Development CouncilGovernor Andrew Cuomo announced a series of Small Business outreach Workshops across the state. The first and only Capital District workshop will be held on Wed., April 4th at Schenectady County Community College at 6 pm. Officials from six state agencies will be on hand to answer questions from business owners on regulations, taxes and incentive programs. Topics will include paperwork needed to start a business, tax forms, licenses, steps for hiring employees and what it takes to gain certification as a minority or woman owned business.

Workshops will be held in partnership with local chambers of commerce, though those who attend do not need to be chamber members. Here is a good opportunity to get those questions you have answered by the experts in their field.

Kinderhook Bank Announces Appointment of Internal Auditor, Lynne M. Carlotto

Kinderhook Bank recently announced that Lynne M Carlotto has been appointed to the position of Internal Auditor for the local community bank.  "Lynne knows the financial services industry and brings a great deal of experience and knowledge to this key position within the bank," said Robert A. Bethlehem Area YMCA announces Pavilion Expansion

The Bethlehem Area YMCA announced this week the addition of a 3,200 square foot pavilion and outdoor recreation area for its summer youth programs. In addition to a pavilion, the new $477,000 recreation area will have eating space, kitchen equipment and bathrooms. The outdoor space will be located south of the building, on the YMCA's 14-acre property. An opening date is planned for the second week of June. 

 

 

 

Stars Intergen Inc., a Glenmont nonprofit agency and Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk (RCS) School District collaborative partner, has received a $750 grant from Stewart's 2011-12 Holiday Match Program to help support Star Helpers, an intergenerational mentoring program that brings RCS middle and high school students to the Van Allen Senior Apartments in Glenmont to visit with senior residents. The grant will be used to purchase healthy snacks and craft materials and to pay for an end of the year Dutch Apple Cruise celebration for the students and their senior mentors.

  

LPL Financial Advisor Cullen Breen from Albany NY has joined Barkman Financial Consultants.  Cullen, formerly of Delmar, is a graduate of Bethlehem Central High and the State University of New York Albany where he received a Bachelor of Science in Economics, with a minor in Business.  Cullen was recently with Merrill Lynch where he specialized in retirement planning. Gary Barkman says, "I am very excited to welcome Cullen to our team, and invite you to stop by the office to meet him in person."

Berkshire Bank donated over $26,000 to United Ways in Greater Capital District of NY state through its 2012 United Way workplace campaign. The money raised includes a corporate matching donation from the Foundation of $7,200 employee contributions of $19,239 and employee fundraisers. Great Job Berkshire Bank!

 

Kim Pelton of Errands-R-"Us" is asking for your support as she trains for a Half marathon in June. Kim is part of the Team in Training which helps raise money and awareness for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Errands-R-"Us" will match all donations up to $500 and Kim's personal goal is to raise $1500. Please help her out by making a donation in her name. The Bethlehem Business Women will hold their next Monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 4 at the Normanside Country Club in Delmar. Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy will once again be offering their Eat for the Environment for 2012. The next event will be held on Tuesday, April 17th at Gold Coin Restuarant at 1360 New Scotland Road in Slingerlands from 4 pm to 9:45 pm. Enjoy a great night of dining while supporting a great cause. Please remember to mention that you are dining in support of Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy, as a portion of your dining bill will help benefit their programs.
