Senator Kirsten Gillibrand hosted the Capital Region Women's Economic Empowerment Rountable on Friday at a woman-owned business, Midtown Tap and Tea Room in Albany.  Women from all areas of business and the non-profits, including Bethlehem Chamber President Jennifer Kilcoyne, gathered to discuss many issues important to creating economic opportunity for women, including access to business capital and credit, government contracting opportunities, health care, retirement, childcare, equity in the workplace, job skills, mentoring and quality education. COMMUNITY EVENTS

 

The Albany Figure Skating Club will hold its 8th Annual Spring Ice Show at the Albany Academy Fieldhouse (117 Hackett Blvd., Albany) on Sunday, March 4, 2012 from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm. Nicol Lally, WTEN reporter and News10 weekend anchor, will be the guest MC for the show. This event will feature Club members from all over the Capital District performing individual programs, skaters from the Albany FSC Basic Skills program, and the Albany FSC's Achilles Edge Beginner and Intermediate Synchronized Skating Teams. Admission is $2 Adults, $1 students/seniors, and free for children under 5 years old. Refreshments will be offered for sale, and a 50/50 raffle will be held. All proceeds will help support the Albany Figure Skating Club's activities and programs. Spectators are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to support the Greater Capital Region Food Pantry. Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy will once again be offering their Eat for the Environment for 2012. The next event will be held on Tuesday, March 13th at Mangia Cafe at 1562 New Scotland Road in Slingerlands from 11am to 9pm. Enjoy a great night of dining while supporting a great cause. Please remember to mention that you are dining in support of Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy, as a portion of your dining bill will help benefit their programs.  The last date for this program will be on Tues,.
