New Gear Reviews for 2010-2011 |
|

Olympic Launch of New Gear Brings Some Exciting Additions
It is Ski Show season in an Olympic Year and we're finally allowed to talk publicly about all the fancy new gear that we've been testing for the past few months. Almost everyone will be revealing some new things at the Olympics and we have been busy trying to test a lot of it.
Swix launches its new Triac Pole just before the Olympics and it is impressive. Salomon has a new classic boot and binding system, ProPulse, combining the best of their retro technology with interesting new innovations. Fischer makes some radical adjustments to their boot line and drops the price of the Hole ski, Rossignol brings new, lighter, boots, bindings and skis to the table, while Atomic launches their Featherlight ski in the US, along with new boots.
We will be posting reviews of most of this gear after the Olympics. You can see our short review of the Swix Triac poles (and pre-order) at bouldernordic.com |

Get Test Results and Recommendations
Want to get objective test results and find out which wax is actually the fastest, instead of just what is running the best in each brand's lineup? Get up to-the-minute wax updates and test results that compare brands head-to-head by visiting BNS on Facebook (bouldernordic), Twitter (bouldernordic) and the BNS web site, bouldernordic.com. As racers, coaches and service techs we search for the fastest skis on snow and that has always meant testing solutions from many different companies. When we began importing SkiGo and Holmenkol wax lines this year, we felt that we had a great opportunity to change the way wax is being marketed. We felt that the best way to do it would be to approach it as if we were the customer trying to find the fastest wax, rather than best solutions by testing everything in order to find what is definitively fastest. Since our goal is to help you get the fastest skis possible, we sell over 10 brands of wax. We are confident that our house brands (Ski*Go, Holmenkol, Guru, Magnar, Innovax) will win a lot of tests because we've been testing those waxes against other brands for years in our work as service techs. And when Holmenkol and SkiGo don't win, we stand behind Swix, Toko and any other brand that does win the test. We also know that we would never want to limit our wax kits to only having certain brands, so we continue to search for the best solutions, regardless of brand. We will continue to provide honest, unbiased testing and recommendations about all waxes. Let us know what you think of how we're doing things and what else we can do to help you make fast skis.
Events BNS will cover with a service crew:
- American Birkebeiner Feb 24-27
- Junior Olympics, Presque Isle, Maine
- NCAA Championships, Steamboat Springs, CO
- US Distance Nationals, Presque Isle, Maine
We will cover many regional and local events with recommendations and a service person. |

Get the New 09-10 BNS Magazine |

 |
Download Now Available
When we set out writing our new magazine this summer, the goal was to share some of what we've learned doing high-level race service and try to show how to apply the most important information to real-world waxing. It has been out for just over a month and we're pretty impressed with ourselves, especially since it seems to have caused one of our competitors to go insane with envy.
But don't trust us, because we could be pretending. Check it out for yourself: download it, request a mailed copy, or pick one up at our shops or at the Yellowstone Fall Festival. We're excited to hear what you think: bad and good. Give it a read and let us know what we missed or how we could clarify things. We are working on videos and articles to further develop these ideas and feedback and suggestions will help us focus on what we've missed. |

Simplified Grind Menus and Expanded Information
Zach has spent the last two years focused on grind development and testing, and we are reaping the benefits of all of this work with some great new grinds. We've also completely re-worked our grind menus to provide three levels of information: SIMPLE, expanded racing menu, and full details on grinds along with a structure primer.
