Using Hand Structure to Get Fast Skis |

 At the World Cup Level, Hand Structure modifications are a standard step in optimizing ski performance.
While structure is not added in every case, it's added more often than you might think, and it's tested for every race. Even in cold conditions, structure modifications are a regular occurence. We often get questions from grind customers asking whether it is OK to use hand structure tools. The answer is, "of course!"

The Finite Finish Base Structure Tool is a professional structure roller that provides a wide variety of structure options. This tool has a drive wheel which actually cuts the structure into the ski, providing finer and more detailed structures that come out of the base quickly with ironing. The tool is available in three options: body only, body and 2 rollers as well as body + 5 rollers. Structure Rollers are also sold separately.
BNS tested protoypes of this tool and is involved in development of the structure rollers. We will be testing additional patterns on the World Cup and at races around the US and Canada in 2008-2009 and adding to the selection.

New Park Groomed in Boulder |

Foothills Community Park Pilot Project
 Foothills Community Park in North Boulder was groomed for the first time in agreement with the City of Boulder on December 4th. Skating was rolled Thursday night, no classic track was set by machine. Please be courteous of other users and Parks Staff as this is the first time that this pilot grooming agreement has been executed. Grooming privileges depend on sustainable attitudes and use. Please thank Parks Staff and the City of Boulder for their good faith partnership in this venture. Thanks also to volunteer groomer Michael Robson and BNC members who make this possible by their generosity.

Grinding, Waxing, Racing Observations
The BNS Stone Grinding Crew of Tom, Peter, Chris and Nathan just returned from the West Yellowstone Ski Festival where we spent the week grinding 175 pairs of skis, testing structures and working with athletes and teams. We also launched the Finite Finish Structure Tool there and it received a lot of interest from coaches and teams.

Swedish Vasaloppet Trip |

Do the Swedish Vasaloppet in Style! The Swedish Vasaloppet trip Feb 24 - Mar 2, 2009 includes 6 days preparing for the race with advice and coaching from previous winner Henrik Eriksson and BNS owner Nathan Schultz. With accomodation in the center of all of the action and race support from a crew of local Swedes, we will have a great time doing the biggest and most celebrated ski race in the world.
This trip includes all ground transport, lodging, meals, coaching, waxing, race support and race entry fee. It does not include airfare.
Pricing is $2300 before Dec 15, 2008, $2600 Dec 16-Feb 1. Please contact us if you are interested as space is very limited and early lodging arrangements will help guarantee a spot.
