Applying Conditional Formatting to PivotTables
Many PivotTable users are unsure of how to apply conditional formatting to PivotTables so that the conditional formatting is applied automatically to varying numbers of rows of data, such as when filters on the PivotTable are changed. Fortunately, this is a very simple process if you understand one simple tip presented here.
Linking Excel Data into Word Documents
Oftentimes, Microsoft Office users desire to integrate Excel and Word so that Excel data links into a Word document, such as account balance data in a financial report that needs to be referenced in a Word document. Sure, you could type the data into the Word document or you could copy-and-paste it, but these methods require manual updating in Word whenever the data changes in Excel. Perhaps the best way of handling this situation is to link the data from Excel into Word.
Tracking QuickBooks Inventory in Multiple Wearhouses
For companies requiring advanced functionality, inventory processing has long been an "Achilles Heel" in QuickBooks. Some of the functions needed by many companies utilizing QuickBooks but not available in the application have included no automated option for FIFO or LIFO costing; no automated way to track inventory by serial number; and the inability to track inventory in multiple warehouses or locations. While QuickBooks 2011 does not resolve all of these issues, users can now track inventory across multiple warehouses by taking advantage of the Advanced Inventory add-on available in QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions 11.0.

Streamlining Employee Expense Reporting with Technology Technology has forever changed how we perform most accounting and financial functions, but one area receiving little impact, thus far, has been that of preparing, processing, and paying employee expense reports. This is particularly unfortunate because employee expense reporting is an area that could be improved and streamlined substantially in most organizations. Fortunately, technology is now providing ample opportunities to do so through applications such as those provided by Concur and Expensify.
