Using Word's Building Blocks and Quick Parts Tools

Building Blocks are predefined pieces of document content saved for future use. Building Blocks can contain single or multiple paragraphs of text, tables, lists, or any other form of content. Word includes a number of predefined Building Blocks, including headers, footers, cover pages, text boxes, equations, page numbers, tables, and watermarks.

Paperless 2.0

 

Paperless 2.0 moves beyond the relatively simple electronic document storage and retrieval tasks found in Paperless 1.0 environments. Though electronic document storage and retrieval tasks remain a component of Paperless 2.0, they are merely that - a component, part of a potentially much larger set of objectives and opportunities.

 

For organizations that have already adopted Paperless 1.0 and for organizations that have been considering going paperless but have yet to pull the trigger, now may just be the time to consider Paperless 2.0.

All Paid Tax Preparers Must Register for Preparer Tax Identification Number

 

As a reminder to tax preparers, effective January 1, 2011, all paid preparers - including attorneys, CPAs, and enrolled agents - of any federal tax return or claim for refund must have a Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN).

icon_newsCPAs in Public Accounting Excempt From Red Flags Rule

 

In a victory for the accounting profession, President Obama signed into law a measure exempting CPAs engaged in public accounting from the Federal Trade Commission's Red Flags Rule. Designed to mitigate identity theft, the Red Flags Rule applies to "financial institutions" and "creditors." As originally interpreted, public accounting firms would have been deemed creditors - and therefore subject to the legislation - if the exemption had not been granted.

Verizon Makes iPhone Available
 

In a long-awaited move for Verizon subscribers and other cellular customers who want to use an iPhone on a network other than AT&T's, Verizon announced on January 11, 2011, that it will begin offering Apple's iPhone.
