New PivotTable Options in Excel 2010

Significant additions to Excel 2010 include the ability to change how percentage calculations display in PivotTables. More specifically, among other new options users now have the options of showing data as a percentage of the parent row total, percentage of the parent column total, and percentage of parent total.


Accountants Face
Data Security Dilemma

In addition to the state of the economy, data security ranks as a primary concern of accountants in all areas of the profession. According to the AICPA's "2009 Top Technology Initiatives" (TTI) survey results, the three top technology initiatives that accountants will face over the next twelve to eighteen months are directly related to data security, and a fourth security item makes the list in the seventh position.

IRS Releases 2010 Filing Season Statistics

Through April 9, 2010, the IRS received and processed fewer individual income tax returns than in the comparable period from the previous year, but average refunds to taxpayers increased by 9.1%, according to statistics published by the Service.

Office 2010 Hits RTM Milestone

While many accountants were concerned with other events on April 15, Takeshi Numoto, a Corporate Vice President at Microsoft, announced that Office 2010, SharePoint 2010, Visio 2010, and Project 2010 reached the release-to-manufacture (RTM) milestone. RTM is the final pre-release engineering milestone of an application and means that an application is now in the production phase.

Google Password System May Have Been Comprimised in January Attacks

That Google suffered security breaches in December of 2009 year is no secret. What has recently surfaced regarding the December cyber-attacks is that the hackers may have gained access to Google's password system.
