To those of you in the states, Happy Groundhog Day!  To my London friends, please forgive us our silly holiday as well as you might enjoy the American Pop Reference to Groundhog Day in the article below.

I, too, have felt as if I were in the movie Groundhog Day in the past. It wasn't until I made a powerful commitment to take the reigns of my well-being that I was out of the proverbial movie and into fun and ease - our natural state. It takes a dedication to the decision to make your life what you want it to be rather than what is happening all around you to feel the full effects of such a commitment.

Groundhog Day no more!

Wake-up to a brand new YOU


ghogdayGroundhog Day is a movie from 1993 which stars Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell. In it, Murray continues to wake up to the same bleak day over and over again and even indulges in hedonism and numerous suicide attempts before he begins to reexamine his life and priorities.

Over time, this movie has become a reference for creating the same undesirable situation over and over and over again without resolve.  People who are dissatisfied with their lives tell me they are living 'Groundhog Day' and it usually means they are hungry for a change.

When you know something's got to change but you "find" yourself in the same predicament as you weathered in the past, it can make you question what power you have to change anything for the better.
 

5 Practices to Wake-Up  

to a NEW DAY and a NEW YOU:

  1.  Create your INTENTION - Everything in our world started with a thought. The problem is most people let their surroundings define their thoughts rather than the other way around. Before you put your feet on the floor in the morning, get clear on how you want to feel. Picture yourself feeling that way. What will it take from you to allow that feeling to permeate your day?
  2. Get into ALIGNMENT - Just like our car, when our alignment is off from Who we really Are, everything becomes more jittery and rough. Take time to get into alignment with your intention by deciding how you need to be to move through your day in a way that honors Who you Are and those intentions you have set for yourself.
  3. Find the PROOF POSITIVE - Like it or not, the law of attraction is active in all of us. It is an easily misunderstood concept, so for the sake of brevity, look around your life and find what IS working. It might be the smallest thing, but it's worth your attention if you want it to grow. Whatever you focus upon grows.  THIS IS TRUE. Place your focus on the positive proof of your intentions and nothing else. This requires discipline and the commitment to change your habitual thinking.
  4. Become PICKY -Discernment is the skill of masters. We are constantly in a state of choice- whether we are conscious of it or not.  This means you get to choose what you put into your awareness as well as which perspective you hold as you view the conditions of your life. There are many truths that exist at any one time and when you choose the truth that feels the most powerful, you become more attuned to your strengths and situations begin to bend to your will.
  5. Release RESISTANCE - Positive change brings resistance to change without exception. There are as many ways of releasing resistance as there are college courses, so choose one that works for you. Some of my favorites are daily meditation, exercise, professional coaching, Byron Katie's The Work, The Sedona Method, guided visualizations, reading uplifting poetry, and simply breathing in and breathing out deeply. Make the time to relax and allow things that are unwanted fall away from your experience. This will not happen by accident.
     

If reading these tips brings a feeling of doubt or you find yourself thinking "sure, I've heard this all before" "or this sounds so easy" it means you've only been reading or listening, not implementing. Yes, these are some of the most simple techniques on the face of the earth, but when implemented and practiced on a regular basis, they are simply life-altering.  

 

Also, you might want to get the support you need to implement these practices. 

 

It's painful when we do not learn from the feedback we get from our daily lives in the form of nudges, illness or crisis. Applying the same responses and behaviours to old familiar situations over and over again can be maddening! We get to choose to use those signals of pain as valuable information that we are simply off-course from our natural state.


 Again, never forget that the power always lies within you and it's possible to choose how you want to feel and what you want to experience.
