How many times have you neglected to honor your
own sense of space, your own timing, or your own
version
of what plain works and what doesn't?
Many very creative and brilliant people repeatedly
resist honoring their own precious boundaries,
because they falsely believe it will limit
possibilities, squash freedom, or even worse,
someone might consider them rude!
Well, I'm taking a stand on that one. It is up to us to
know our limits and it is our responsibility to honor
them. By doing so, we are giving others the
benefit of our best foot forward. And, even if that
means it might challenge the concept of what is
considered polite.
This month, allow your old ideas of what it means to
polite to fall away like the leaves of the season. Polite
does not mean being a martyr. Hold up your old ideas
and see they are worthy of keeping. You may find you
have more raking to do this fall than you'd expected!
Enjoy! Stephanie
Do you Know your Boundaries? |

Are you all things to ALL people?
In today's cyber-paced world, it has become
absolutely the norm to always be available and
connected to the office, the kids, your partner, and your
friends; as well as to the many groups or
organizations in which you invest your precious
energy. So I'll ask a slightly different question, "Do
you
include yourself when considering
if you are all things to "all people?" Without
honoring
the wisdom and clarity of
your own needs, you are putting your well-being, and
that of those around you, at risk. Sometimes you may
just need to hide out a little in order to hear yourself
think.
If you're like most people, not having this direct lifeline
to your truth presents a serious threat to your ability to
feel fulfilled. In order to hear this truth, you must know
your
boundaries and limits. This is an
essential piece of knowledge to have as you move
from one experience, job, errand, or interaction to
another. Without it, you are destined to experience
burnout, stress, illness or worse. Ask yourself,
what is
your method of retrieving the messages that are
available to you from your most essential and wise
self?
Know that it is impossible to truly give to those around
you unless you are taking the time to feed your own
soul. For some, it may mean saying no more often to
requests for your time or energy. For others, it may be
as simple as saying yes to those things that nurture
you. Granted, it requires perseverance on your part
until it becomes a new habit, but what's the
alternative? How productive are you really when
you've become malnourished in spirit or lacking in
soul? Discover what feeds you, and make the
commitment to yourself to actually put that in your
schedule. Then discover what it really means to
be all
things to all people - even you.
