WE NEED YOUR HELP!
| |
Children's Museums provide a safe, challenging environment
where children playfully explore and imagine while building self-esteem and critical thinking skills. A children's museum in Sonoma
County will be a valuable cultural resource for all families! Please consider making a
gift today to help open our doors as soon as possible - any
amount would be greatly appreciated. It's easy to donate on our website.

We have a home!
We wanted to let our mailing list subscribers be the first to receive the exciting news - the Children's Museum of Sonoma County will have a home come September 2010!We signed a Letter of Intent to lease a
building at 1835 Steele Lane, Santa Rosa! The site offers many wonderful features. The 5400
sq. ft building is adjacent to a charming courtyard, providing both indoor
& outdoor space for exhibits. It is within walking distance of the Schulz Museum
& Snoopy Ice Arena. And there's plenty of room for future expansion
with 4.2 acres and ample parking. We are grateful to Jean Schulz and her family for this wonderful
opportunity! We are excited to announce that AXIA Architects is providing essential planning and conceptual work for
the upcoming modifications to the building and courtyard.
You can follow the progress of the children's museum on our website's BLOG, Facebook, or Twitter.

Get out your calendars! The Museum-on-the-Go has a busy schedule of great
community events. We hope to see you at one or more of them!
Last year the Museum on the Go visited several libraries as part of the Sonoma County Summer Reading Program and it was a smash success. This year our fabulous van will be visiting six libraries and we're planning some new "electrifying" science exhibits and demonstrations.
Our participation in the library program is because of a generous grant
from Medtronic Foundation. We will also be featured at the festive
Petaluma Evening Farmers' Market
Visit us for some wonderful family fun at
these terrific upcoming events: April 24

Spotlight on Board Member, Julio Caceres
Julio is originally
from Ecuador - South America. He moved to Sonoma
County in 2003 to work for a local Community Bank, directly involved
with the Hispanic Business Community. Julio is
married with a 2 year old daughter "Isabella", he enjoys sports and
spending time with his family outdoors.
Where did you grow up? Ecuador
South America, my Dad was in the Military so I was one year here and on
year there, but for the most part in Quito, Ecuador's Capital.
What
got you interested in the Children's Museum of Sonoma County? Honestly,
I received the invitation from Julie Ratto, and then met Collette
Michaud, our CEO, with the passion and energy they described what the
Children's Museum was and where we need to be... it made me want to be
part of it. Additionally, I'm the proud father of two beautiful girls (2 years and 3 months) and I realized that I can be part of "creating
something tangible" for their benefit and many other kids.
Describe
one of your happiest life moments. Definitely when I got married
with my lovely wife Alex, and the birth of my two Daughters, Isabella
and Valentina.
Describe a magical childhood moment. When I
was 8 years old and I found (He found me) a Little Jesus in the street
by Christmas time, since then I have never been alone.
If you had
an extra hour of free time each day, how would you use it? Let's say
that my wife is ok if I don't spend that time with my family, in that
case I would be working out to prepare myself for my first ever
Triathlon.
If you were stranded on a desert island, what three items
would you want with you? My Little Jesus, my bible, and a "survivor"
manual.
If your CD player only played one song, what would it
be? I feel good by James Brown
What was your first job? I
was a sales agent for my parents...selling luxury decorative items
door-to-door. I still remember my first sale, I was so excited that I went
for a ride in the single family's car and almost crashed it due to
speeding...not good.
What's one thing you'd really like to learn
how to do? Two things, music and Latin-base languages. I would like
to learn to play piano and guitar, and learn Italian and Portuguese.
If
you could live anywhere else in the world, where would it be? Let's
say that money is not an issue, then, I would not have only one place
to live at, but 3 or 4: Miami FL, Sicily-Italy, Santorini-Greece,
Galapagos-Ecuador
What controversial topic do you love debating? International
politics
What real person, dead or alive, do you wish you could
be more like? My Dad, Julio Caceres Sr. The most humble, loving and
honest person I have ever known. He is also my best friend.
Of
all the things you've done in your life, of what are you most proud? Saving
the life of my daughter Valentina doing CPR for choking.
