MARCH 21: SECOND ANNUAL LIGHT THE FIRE! CONFERENCE
"New Monasticism" is the theme of United Theological Seminary's 2012 Light the Fire! church renewal conference, to be held Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at the seminary, located at 4501 Denlinger Rd, Dayton, OH.
New Monasticism models itself on early church monastic communities, which offered a patterned life of giving, praying, working, and serving. New Monastic communities are most often city-based communities of faith living a life of Christian fellowship with the homeless, immigrants, prisoners and the poor.
Speakers for the conference include Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove, New Monastic author, Christian Peacemaker, and sought-after speaker; and Elaine Heath, Ph.D., the McCreless Professor of Evangelism at Perkins School of Theology and the instigator of two networks of monastic communities in Texas.
Cost for the conference is $125 and group rates are available. For more information or registration, please

THEOLOGY, EUCHARIST AND MINISTRY: A CONFERENCE FOR WESLEYAN RENEWAL: May 17, 2012
For John and Charles Wesley, few things were more important for both theology and ministry than attentiveness to the Lord's Supper. In recent years, Wesleyan theologians and church leaders have lamented a decline in attentiveness to the Eucharist in Wesleyan theology and ministry. Some have gone so far as to suggest that a decline in sacramental vitality is at the heart of the wider pattern of decline in Wesleyan churches.
On Thursday, May 17, at Christ UMC, 3440 Shroyer Rd., Kettering, OH, 17 Wesleyan theologians will call for the restoration of the Eucharist to its rightful place as the heart of theology and ministry in the Wesleyan tradition.
