BID in support of a cleaner Downtown:

Now is the time for Downtown businesses to submit requests to BID for a free cigarette ash receptacle. Last year, BID purchased and distributed 25 ash urns to businesses that agreed to 1) secure the unit to prevent vandalism and 2) empty and maintain the unit in good working order. At a per unit cost to BID of $279 each, BID has demonstrated a commitment to working with Downtown businesses to reduce litter, especially discarded cigarette butts. Call 375.5067 to request a free urn.

From the mouths of merchants: No snow job

"I think the City snow removal people have done a great job and deserve some positive recognition." Behind-the-Scenes: the 12-member City street crew is responsible for nearly 100 miles of roadway. Following a snow storm, all available City snow removal equipment is deployed following an established plan of prioritized street clearing beginning with major roadways, school zones and designated snow routes. Despite being a budget busting snow year, the City will continue full service snow removal.
