Durango prepares to host HOG:
More than 750 rooms have been blocked in preparation for a June 23-26 visit by the Colorado-Utah Harley Owners Group (HOG). This annual touring event will bring in excess of 1,500 visitors to the area. C-HOG is an established statewide organization with high-end demographics. Downtown Durango should see an economic infusion from the visit. Visit www.costatehogrally.com for information or registration. More to come. |

Perform at a higher level:
Business owners must rely heavily on their employees to protect their investment and make the business successful. Customers deserve no less than the best trained employees who can be put on the floor. Tom Shay (profitplus.org), "By far, my best employees are those I have continually taught how to sell, how I want various tasks performed, and how to understand all the products and services that the business sells." Great customer service can be the most effective competitive advantage for small business...but it has to be more than a line in the mission statement. It must be something repeatedly demonstrated to staff and customers. |

Snowdown lowdown:
All things considered, the Snowdown parade is receiving high marks. Of special note, the City Transit Division provided outlying parade parking at the Fairgrounds and nearly 1,200 people took advantage of the free shuttle service into Downtown. Good job all. |
