BID...a reliable source for Downtown information at www.downtowndurango.org:
One thousand first quarter 2010 BID newsletters were recently distributed, but we'd love a wider distribution. Let us know if a neighbor merchant or business associate would benefit from being better informed about Downtown happenings, and we'll add them to our data base. Also, work has begun on the 2010 FREE Business Locator Map. Please contact the BID office (375.5067) with any updates, corrections or additions. |

From the mouths of merchants:
"Why can't we do a better collective job with the summer flower pots?"
Background: The City provides 101 blooming flower barrels (flowers included) and individual "caretaker" merchants agree to provide summer-long care. The problem: Each year, approximately 20% of the barrels do not receive steady maintenance and this reflects poorly on Downtown. Some merchants have requested ideas and actions that might result in a better, more uniform outcome. |
Perform at a higher level:
A fundamental concept in business strategy is to avoid trying to match your competitors' strengths. In other words, don't play the competitions game. Example: if their strength is low prices, then counter punch with great service, selection or better trained employees. Remember, a complaint about price is really a complaint about unmet expectations.
