BID salutes Green Power users:

The Environmental Protection Agency named Durango a "Green Power Community" for its collective commitment to purchase Green Power through La Plata Electric Association. Durango ranks #12 in the U.S., and is the only community in Colorado currently recognized.

EPA Green Power Communities are those in which the local government, businesses and residents voluntarily purchase Green Power, or electricity generated from a renewable resource such as solar, wind, biomass or small hydro, in amounts that meet or exceed EPA's Green Power Community requirements. In 2009, Durango residents and businesses purchased in excess of 12,758,000 kilowatt hours of Green Power from LPEA, which accounts for 7.3 percent of all electricity consumed within the city.

Perform at a higher level:

More tips about effective time management - "Everyone uses time efficiently, few use time effectively."

  • Start your day working on your "As," not with your "Cs."
  • All day, ask yourself, what the best use of my time right now? Better to take a small bite off an "A" project, than to be tempted to spend time on a "C."
  • Handle every piece of paper, or read every e-mail, only once. Learn to either "act on it, file it, or trash it."

Focus on the customer:

Successful service providers promote the philosophy, "If your job is not serving the customer directly, then your job is to serve somebody who is."

Hospital chart bloopers:

"On the second day the knee was better, and on the third day it disappeared."
