The BID Behind the Brand:
Good downtown branding is essential to fostering the sense of community that keeps residents interested in downtown and makes the community an attractive destination for visitors. The familiar red, black, white and silver colors in the Historic Downtown Durango logo and the promotional tag line "Just Plain Comfortable" were adopted by BID in 2006. The BID is responsible for maintaining and promoting a consistent usage of these elements, which in turn reinforce a distinct image and recognition in a competitive marketplace. Tools used include a well-coordinated, steady stream of press releases, newsletters, e-news, web site, seasonal promotions, print advertising, Downtown maps and sponsorship of events and projects.

Case in point: This week BID will begin installation of new Downtown maps in all of the transit stops along Main Avenue. These locator maps reinforce the brand by directing people to useful services and businesses, plus promote Downtown's unique attributes.
Why customers stop buying from you:
1% die, 3% move away, 5% form a new business relationship, 9% take a competitor's offer, 14% experience product or service satisfaction, and 68% feel an attitude of indifference by one or more employees. Business lesson: You control 96% of customer behavior and loyalty. - "US News and World Report"
