All throughout the bible, as we read, we learn that Gods plans and purposes will not be aborted. Even when we suffer loss or disappointment, if we continue to trust God, his plan will come to pass in our life.
Phil. 1 says 'He who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.' Jesus started something in you and he won't stop until he has completed what he started.
The saddest thing I can imagine would be to come to the end of our life and wonder how things would have turned out if we hadn't given up. If you have been given a divine purpose in life and life seems to have put you on hold, hang on. Stay in faith until it comes to pass. It will come to pass, God is not a man that he should lie, if he said it, he will do it, you can rest assured of that truth.
Psalm 40:1-3 says; I waited patiently for the Lord, and He inclined unto me and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay and set my feet upon a rock and established my going. He has put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God, many shall see it and fear and shall trust the Lord.
Our faith is tested most when we are seemingly put on hold or when we are facing total silence from God concerning our situation. Have you felt on the verge of a breakthrough, yet it seems that you are only seeing delay? These short seasons can feel like they are taking forever. In this place we learn and become acquainted with God's timing and it isn't always fun; but he remains faithful.
I recently read an article about someone who was traveling and something caught my attention. This man was on the plane of a major airline and the passengers were told that the plane could not land at it scheduled time. The pilot announced that the air traffic controller said they should wait in the air. Now...you tell me ... who would want to wait in mid-air on an airplane? Not me. I can't imagine anything more uncomfortable. Yet the pilot announced that they would assume a holding pattern and wait for further instruction. After a period of time the passengers became concerned and voiced their concerns. While they were anxious, the stewardess quickly assured them that it was perfectly safe and that this was something they did all the time and were prepared for.
I believe this is something that happens between the time we begin trusting God and the time we see the answer manifest. Often a time will come when we find ourselves in a holding position. Literally stopped in mid-air, we are not hearing from God, we don't know what to do next, we are simply holding...waiting.
The question would be; are you prepared for the time of holding? Have you, like the airline, prepared ahead of time for the possibility of a time of a holding pattern if necessary? Or would you, like the concerned passengers, begin to worry and become anxious, wondering if you would ever arrive at your destination? The question may not be 'do you have enough faith to receive?' The question may be 'do you have enough faith to assume a holding pattern and wait for the fulfillment of the promise?'
The holding pattern do not last long, before they knew it the passengers had landed safely at their destination and so will you. You simply have to trust God to know the when's and how's of your life. He is well acquainted with your life and he knows precisely when you need to land at your destination. Trust him. He will not fail you and before you know it you will have arrived at all God has for you.
