I heard a comment the other day that caused me to think about a lot of things.  The comment was actually a question; it was 'why do only children dream of flying.'  I have thought and thought of this.  Adults dream of many things but I only know of one who still dreams of flying as an adult.  That is sad.

I think of Bryson and his imagination - that little man can dream.  I don't do near as well as him, although he is definitely helping me imagine more.    

On any given day, he will pick up a dinosaur and say 'ok, Nana, we are going to have a dinosaur fight, you are this one and I am that one.'  Then he continues to fight in ways that you can only imagine...my dinosaur always loses because I simply can't imagine as well as he can.

Bryson also has this unique ability to play 'make believe games' that you can never win because he is the only one with an imagination.  For instance, when we play rock, paper, scissors, he also has a cannon gun, so I never ever win.

His imagination is so sharp that when he plays these games he acts out all the parts and sounds, it is amazing and so funny, but he doesn't think it is funny, because at this age he believes what he sees in his imagination.

To dream is defined as to think or imagine.  To imagine is defined as to form a notion or idea.  While we often think dreams are silly, I am sure that many thought the idea of flying an airplane was ridiculous at one time.  Others thought the idea of going to the moon was impossible - yet that dream has been accomplished over and over.

What I am saying is this; no dream is ridiculous and all things are possible with God - all things are possible with God - the danger comes when we can no longer dream, when we can no longer imagine.

This happens when life continues to tell us that our dreams have died and not to wish too high - to be reasonable and realistic - face reality.  There is only one reality - God, Himself, formed thoughts and words and created an entire world...so can you.

For Bryson, he doesn't dream of only those things that we see happen daily, in his dream world, whether awake or asleep, he dreams of flying, he dreams of being a conductor for Thomas the Train, he dreams of dinosaur lands where he lives among dinosaurs.  He dreams of driving the fastest cars around, he dreams of a so many things that people would call impossible, but I am so glad his imagination is so vivid and I will daily seek to keep it that way.

As I said earlier, I know of one adult who still dreams of flying, the only one I have ever heard be so bold as to say this.  I dream of walking on water, I dream of raising the dead, I dream of seeing blind eyes opened.  Many would say this is impossible today but God says it should be my daily lifestyle - I choose to believe God.

Jesus said in Matthew 19:14 that the Kingdom of God belongs to the children, those who dream, those who have vivid imagination - those who think nothing is impossible.  Those who see beyond the realm of what is in this world, the Kingdom of God belong to them.

The Bible also says that we will have to become like a child to ever enter into the Kingdom of God.  We will need childlike faith.  When Bryson plays trains and plays like he is the conductor of Thomas the Train, he is dreaming...when he begins to dream about it...that dream is being fed...when he begins to speak it out of his mouth, he is creating.  So it is with us.

What dream is it that God has put in you?  Some children dream of becoming doctors and many do.  Some children dream of going to the moon, and they grow up and go to the moon.  Some dream of becoming president and one of them does every few years.  All those adults who accomplished great things first dreamed of them as a child and refused to let go of those dreams.

Are you a dreamer?  Are you an imaginer?  Does the Kingdom of God belong to you?  Do you have childlike faith or has your faith been ripped and crushed by the world and its disappointments?  If so, I am asking you to ask God to fill you with dreams again.   Ask God to cause you to dream again, to be able to imagine again.  Nothing is impossible to him who believes and it is never too late to realize a dream...unless you stop dreaming.

I know my friend will fly one day, she is an adult and she has refused to let that dream go.  I know your dream can come true as well, if you refuse to let go of it - and move to the next step of declaring it and feeding that dream with the word of God.

Don't hinder dreamers and imaginers....the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these little children...are you one of those?
