Power in Prayer
prayer deep

I want to talk a little about prayer - prayer changes things and I believe we are in a set time of anointed prayer - which excites me greatly because that means we are entering into a set time of answered prayer.

Concerning prayer, it is vital to keep your heart right before God, but today I want to talk about another aspect of prayer - the power of one voice.  When I say 'one voice' I don't mean one person but a voice in unity in prayer.

Matthew 18:19 says where two agree on earth as touching anything, whatever they ask it will be granted by the Father.  This scripture shows the great power in agreement.  If people come into REAL agreement, praying the same thing, saying the same thing, nothing is impossible - whatever you are asking will be granted by God - that is an awesome truth.

Agreement is not easy to obtain, if you ask someone to pray for your sickness, some will pray 'God heal them' while some will pray 'God, if it be your will, heal them' and some will pray something entirely different.  I used to lead prayer groups at times for the ministry I worked for years ago, when we would begin to pray, everyone would be praying differently.  I would have to stop and say 'we have to have agreement, let one pray and the others agree - there is great power in agreement in prayer.'

In many prayer groups today people are praying all kinds of different things and there is no agreement at all - the power is greater, much greater when we are in agreement, total harmony in our prayers.  The Message Bible says it like this; when two of you get together on anything at all on earth and make a prayer of it, my Father in heaven goes into action.

We first see the power in unity in Genesis 11:6; and the LORD said, Behold, the people are one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.

God, Himself, said 'these people are speaking with one language or one voice, nothing will be kept from them, whatever they imagined they will have.'  Isn't that incredible!  Nothing would be kept from them, anything they could imagine would be theirs for one reason...they were in such unity that they literally spoke with one voice.

There is a tremendous blessing in unity.  There is tremendous power in the unity of one voice in prayer.  Psalm 133 says where there is unity; there is a COMMANDED blessing of LIFE.  Unity has great power.  This is the reason or one of them, that the enemy attempts to divide, he knows the power in unity.

Can you imagine if the church as a whole came together in unity in their prayer?  We could literally change the world.  Yet, it is very difficult to get two people together in unity in prayer.

In the Upper Room, on the day of Pentecost, there were 120 people in unity.  The earth shook to such a degree that everyone felt it. There was a wind that blew mightily.  There was the appearance of fire that sat upon their heads - the power of prayer and unity were quite evident.  But friends, that doesn't have to end with Pentecost.  We can have that every single day of our life.  We simply have to live right before God, stay fervent in our prayers and find a few people to come into agreement with us in prayer.  Someone who you know will pray passionate prayers of agreement.

Remember, where two of us agree...become one voice...it SHALL BE done by our Father in heaven.  No if's, or buts', but it SHALL BE DONE.  Let's come together in unity and watch God command His blessing on us of life, and life ever more.
