This past weekend I was reading the Psalms and I came across a scripture that I must have read a few hundred times, but that day, it jumped out at me. I could not get the scripture off of my mind for a couple days; I meditated on it day and night. I went to bed thinking about it and it was the first thing I thought about the following morning.
The scripture is found in Psalm 2:7 and it says 'I will declare the decree: the Lord has said to me.'
As I walked down my hallway the next morning, I glanced over at my computer and saw I had an email - so I stopped to check it, and the title said: You shall declare a thing and it shall be established unto you. Now, God had my attention. First, I couldn't get the scripture off my mind and then God confirmed the scripture with an email the following morning.
Let's look at the first scripture again: I will declare the decree. Many people think that declaring and decrees are the same thing, but they are not. Let me explain. To declare is defined as to rehearse, to speak out, to reckon, to take account of or to count.
Decree is defined as a statue, ordinance, action, a law in general, and a civil enactment prescribed by God. A decree is a law already set in motion and that is what we are to declare, to speak out, to reckon, to take account of.
In this scripture, the word 'said' means a promise, what one has said, thought or commanded. It means what you have been told or promised by God. We all have promises from God - even if He hasn't spoken them to you personally, in His word we have many, many promises - things He has SAID to us.
The Bible says that this world is held together by the power of God's word. We are created in His image; our world is also held together by the power of our words. It is an undeniable truth. Whatever is going on in your life may very well be a result of your words. Our words are filled with power - we have what we say. For this reason, we have to be very cautious about what we say, especially in the midst of the battle. It is often when things look bad, in the midst of battle that our words could tear down our world. Be very cautious with your words - declare what the Lord has said and nothing else.
Now, let's look at Job 22:28; You will also declare a thing and it will be established for you.
This is the same word, declare, which means speak out, take account of, rehearse. Now, what I found interesting is that the word 'thing' in this scripture is the same word as 'said' in Psalm 2:7, both words mean a spoken command or promise. Again, we see that we are to continually speak out the promises of God - declare them as law - as an established statue and ordinance that must be obeyed. You have a right, a legal right to have the word of God and the promises of God manifest in your life - and all you have to do is believe it and declare it.
Job 22:28 says when you declare a thing (a promise) it will be established for you - that means it will manifest and you will see the evidence of it.
Today I encourage you to declare the decree. Speak out the Promise of God. Continue to speak it out for you have His promise - you will see the evidence of it - you will certainly see it manifest right before your eyes. Your word is framed by Gods word coming out of your mouth. There is life and death in your tongue, you are cursed or blessed by the words you speak, by what you declare.
What are you standing for today? Declare it today - declare the decree and watch it be established for you. Believe it, declare it and see it! That's the Kingdom principle.
