A song has been on my heart for the past few days and I can't seem to stop singing it. It says 'I hear the sound of the coming of the rain.'
As I woke up this morning I was thinking about this song, but as I was thinking about it, it was coming to me like this; I hear the sound of the coming of the reign.
I believe it is time for us to reign in every area of our life - we have had the authority and the dominion available to us all along...now it's time we take it and reign.
To reign means to possess or exercise power and authority, to rule. Don't you think the devil has attempted to rule your life and circumstances long enough? Don't you think it is time you take your authority and power and rule?
As I continued to think on this song, I began to think about Elijah in 1 Kings 18. You may recall this passage in the Bible, it talks about when Elijah told his servant 'go up and eat and drink for there is a sound of an abundance of rain.'
It's clear that Elijah had no reason to believe it was raining other than what he was hearing in his spirit. How do I know this? Because moments later, he was praying and having his servant go look and see if he saw rain.
Elijah could hear the sound of rain coming. He could have easily said 'well, it's coming, I can sense it, and I can go and take my rest now.' But he didn't. The Bible says when he heard the sound; he bowed himself down and began to pray.
Let me show you something interesting. The word 'sound' comes from a root word which means 'to call aloud.' Doesn't that confirm all we have been discussing lately!
I believe Elijah heard the sound of rain coming in his spirit - but he didn't stop there, he began to pray - I believe he began to call forth what he was sensing and hearing in his spirit. He began to call forth rain.
As he did, he would have his servant go and look for what he was calling forth - now that's faith that pleases God. And he didn't give up after two or three times, no, the Bible says after seven times the servant saw a small cloud.
Scripture goes on to say that there was a 'great rain.' The word 'great' means large in magnitude and extent, intense. This rain that Elijah first heard in his spirit and then called forth was great in magnitude and lasted a long time. Ahh. I am ready to be right in the middle of the rain of God that will be great in magnitude and last a long time, how about you?
I wanted to share this with you today because many of you are sensing and hearing things in your spirit. I wanted to encourage you 'don't stop there.' Don't say 'oh, I hear the rain, it sounds good, God is moving, there is nothing else I need to do.'
Instead, let's do as Elijah did and once we hear that sound, let's bow to God and begin to call forth all the things he is showing us. As we call them forth, the 'sound' will increase and become louder. As we call forth, we will begin to see 'signs the size of a mans hand' that the rain is indeed coming our way. It all happens as we call forth - just as Elijah did.
Let's do as he did and let's not stop until we see the clouds and the wind and the first drops of a mighty rain. I believe those who are faithful in this season will not only hear the sound of the rain, but will experience this great rain. Will you be one of those?
Now, many of you may ask 'how do I call it forth?' Let me give you some examples; if you are believing for a mate, you may say 'I declare and decree that my godly husband/wife is here now.' If you are standing in faith for healing, you may say 'I declare and decree that my healing has sprung forth speedily and I am walking in divine health.' If you are needing a financial breakthrough, you may say 'I declare and decree that my finances are overflowing, all my bills are paid early and paid in full and I have overflow to enable me to give.' It's really simple and it is power-packed with you pray according to Gods will for your life.
I have said it before; it is the desire of my heart that every single one of you walk in the fullness of what God has for you - I pray that for you daily, I long to see it come to pass this very month. I desire to see you take your authority and reign. You have to call it forth. You are the prophet of your own life.
I know you are hearing the sound... don't stop there - call it forth and see the rain that God is sending your way. It will bless you. It will refresh you. It will cause new life to spring forth...now, grab your umbrella and get ready for a downpour!
