Starving in the Land of Plenty
   fruit

I read a story about piranhas that I want to share with you. Several years ago, a study was done with piranhas, piranhas are a fish found in South America, they are about 18 inches long, and they are violent, extremely violent. They swim in schools and can rip the skin off fish in seconds.

Scientist placed one piranha in a fish tank along with smaller fish of other species. When the piranha became hungry, he would attack and devour the smaller fish. This went on for a few days, and then they placed a thick, transparent divider in the fish tank, dividing the piranha from the smaller fish. When the piranha became hungry, he still tried to attack the smaller fish, hitting violently at the divider.

For 30 days the piranha was allowed to make repeated, failed attempts to feed by eating the smaller fish, he simply continued to hit against the divider. After the 30 days passed the divider was removed, freeing the piranha to do what he was born to do, eat the smaller fish...but he didn't even try to eat the fish, they swam around him and he never once offered to attack them. Eventually he died of starvation in the midst of abundance.

When God created the earth and put Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, they were literally in the midst of plenty. After the fall, a barrier went up, just as it did in the fish tank, man could see the abundance but couldn't get to it.

Do you recall when God told Moses to send the spies into the Promise Land and spy out the land? That day, they were able to see the abundance and God was making the way for them to enjoy His abundance, but in their minds the barrier was still there and they were afraid to go in and take what was theirs - they died in the wilderness with abundance all around them - at least most of them did - Joshua and Caleb saw the abundance and believed they could have it and they did, they lived their lives in their Promised Land of Abundance.

So many Christians are living today just like that piranha. They have swam around with barriers in their life for so long that they see the abundance but it is always out of reach, they don't even try to get it. In their minds, the barrier is still there stopping them from having what is rightfully theirs. Many, many believers live and die never knowing the fullness of what Jesus died to give them or even a small part of what Jesus died to give them. That is the saddest thing I know.

The barrier was no longer in the fish tank, but it remained in the mind of the piranha. The barrier between you and your inheritance has been removed; don't allow that barrier to remain in your mind.

Romans 12:2 tells us to renew our mind that we might know the good and acceptable and perfect will of God. We renew our mind with the word of God.

I encourage you today to begin to renew your mind to the fact, the truth that every barrier in your life has been removed - it was removed when you accepted Jesus into your life. Nothing can stop you from possessing all God has for you - nothing but you. Just as it was with the children of Israel, the only thing that stopped them was what they thought they couldn't have. They thought they were grasshoppers in the eyes of the people - they were wrong. The people of that land saw them as men and women of God and they feared them.

It is exactly the same with you - you may think the enemy thinks you have no power - you would be wrong - he knows that you are men and women of God and he fears you. He especially fears you gaining this knowledge.

Remove the barrier in your mind by transforming it through the word of God. Get your right mind back, the mind of Christ and realize that there are no more barriers for you - no more limits. Don't starve in the land of plenty...go in and possess and occupy your land, it is already yours by inheritance, take it. Just like the piranha, do what you were created to do, eat the good of the land.

Forgiveness
field of flowers

I am gentle and forbearing with others and if someone has a difference, a grievance or complaint against me, I readily pardon him; even as the Lord has freely forgiven me, so must I also forgive.

Colossians 3:13

As I confess my sins, He is faithful and just to forgive me and cleanse me of all unrighteousness.

1 John 1:9

I am useful and helpful and kind to others, tenderhearted, compassionate, understanding, loving-hearted, forgiving others, readily and freely, as God in Christ forgave me.
