OperationsInc Signs Deal for 7,900 Square Feet of New Office Space in Norwalk, CT
OperationsInc will be moving its headquarters from Stamford to 535 Connecticut Avenue in Norwalk, effective August 6, 2012. OI will be more than doubling the size of its current space, due to the unprecedented growth of its current 37 person staff. One of the many perks of their new offices will be a state of the art training facility, which they plan to use to expand their Training & Development programs, as well as make available to their Clients.

Q: How do you successfully organize and plan your priorities?
Commentary: Planning and organization skills are critical for most positions. Here we are seeking examples via this behavioral interview question. Listen for hidden admissions (e.g. "I try to ---", "It's a battle, but ---", "It's been a constant focus ---") which may indicate that while we are getting a direct answer we also are getting an indication that organization and planning is a weakness.

Tracking Time Off
Businesses seem to have no trouble tracking sales, expenses, and even headcount. Why is it so hard to track time off? The answer typically is because there is no system for having time off taken easily reported. It is extremely important for productivity, morale and fairness sake that we make a greater effort to track the time taken. Simple processes involving an email that someone is out is a start. Sending all management a weekly or monthly time off taken card to complete and submit back can also work. Lastly make the employee partially responsible for reporting the time they take. Oh --- and at the end of each month / quarter / year send a summary of time taken to both parties and ask them to sign off. There's no better way to find discrepancies.

Q: We often put posters on our company intranet. If we only post them there will we still be in compliance?
A: The federal government and most state governments have not yet recognized "virtual" postings as meeting the compliance standards. As a result while you can post the information online for your employees to easily view and access you need to still hang those posters in public areas of your office, ideally break rooms, cafeterias, clock-in areas, etc. |
