$250 or more in out of pocket expenses and 20% of
employers said it costs workers $1000 of more.

seekers post to three or more job boards. Of those
professionals who currently have their resume posted
online, 54% agreed that geographic and industry-
specific job sites are most effective when searching

This week's question:
"Is an employer legally obliged to offer all of its
workers paid holidays?"
--- HR Manager, Healthcare Industry
Answer:
Actually there are few if any laws in place that mandate
a company must pay for holidays off, let alone provide
holidays as days off. That being said it is important to
check the state law in your state. Issues arise
however when you setup different policies and
practices within the same company, paying some but
not all for their holidays. You therefore need to be
consistent in your practices.

INTERVIEW QUESTION OF THE
WEEK
Each Newsletter we will publish an interview
question which hiring managers can utilize to better
qualify candidates for hire, along with our analysis of
the answers you may receive and their meaning.
This Week's Question
--What other types of jobs are you considering?
GAUGING THEIR RESPONSE ---
A critical part of the interviewing cycle that often gets
overlooked is the process of formulating and offer and
doing so with all the facts in mind. Asking a candidate
about the other opportunities they are evaluating will
help you grasp what level of competition you may face
and how you stack up. Overall this question will help
you understand the as well the focus of the
candidate's job search.
HR Best Practices Tips
--Avoiding Employer Hiring Negligence
It's easy to hire new employees without doing all your
homework --- and then you may pay the price with a
bad hire. Instead consider establishing a
company-wide pre-hire screening process that
includes Background Checking, skills testing, and
even personality profiling. With such practices any
business moves from a screening process tied to gut
and interviewing skill to a process that validates and
verifies what you learned. We risk way too much
without such an approach.
