Athlete Grants for 2012 are open!


Each year NK strives to support developing athletes in the sport of rowing with product sponsorship. In addition to being a chief sponsor for USRowing, we also provide personal support for individuals who are working hard to meet their goals. This year we will be awarding 20 athletes $250 each to be used toward NK products that will help them achieve their athletic goals, whatever they may be. In order to be eligible for one of these grants, we need to hear from you. Give us some details from your rowing resume, tell us your goals and what you want to achieve in the sport, and let us know why you could use some NK electronics to help you achieve those goals. Submissions are being accepted until the end of February, and the submission form can be found HERE.

The quality of your application has a great influence on the judges, please take the time to explain why NK should support your training this year. If you have won an NK athlete grant in the past three years you are not eligible to enter.

Program Grants are coming in 2012

Last year we expanded our grant program to rowing programs in addition to our Athlete Grants. We're excited to announce that we are doing it again in 2012! Five rowing programs will be selected to receive a $500 grant to use toward NK products. Whether it's the all new Blue Ocean Megaphone, the Cox Box, the Cox Box Mini or something from our speed line to round out your training needs, this grant will help your program get the training tools you need to succeed, no matter how tight your budget.

We get many requests for product donations each year from programs in need, so we have initiated this grant program as a way to support the rowing community with key NK products and give all of our customers an equal opportunity to apply.

To qualify you must be a recognized USRowing Organizational Member and have at least ten current members.

NK OPEN HOUSE!

Thank you to everyone who came out to NK's first official open house! We had great weather and the event was a success! The NK staff enjoyed mingling with our loyal customers, grilling up some food, and giving out prizes and discounts.

It was great getting to meet all of you and show you around our facility. We are already looking forward to our next open house so if you have any feedback, suggestions are welcome!

If you missed it, we invite you to stop by NK's Headquarters in Boothwyn, PA whenever you're in the area. Our doors are always open Monday through Friday, 9AM to 5PM. We'd love to meet more of the rowers and coaches who use NK products and give them a tour of the facility where the products are made.

NK Boathouse Visits

NK is proud of our rowing background and knowledge of the sport over the past 30 years. NK is a company that makes products that are designed by rowers for rowers. The person you call for tech support is a rower. The person that runs the company is a rower. Most rowers on Boathouse Row in Philadelphia know someone who works for NK. We want to bring that community presence to your boathouse.

Over the past few years NK has increased its efforts to reach out to our domestic customers. Based in Philadelphia, we have visited many of the clubs in our area. When NK comes in for a boathouse visit, we:

  • Help you inventory all of your NK equipment - what you've got, and what it needs to be ready to do its job for you.
  • Review all of your shell wiring and perform basic on-site repairs and installs.
  • Prepare a written report with recommendations for required maintenance and strategic equipment additions.

Or you can get an RA to trade a unit in for a new one. We offer very generous trade in discounts for all of our equipment including Cox Boxes and Microphones or SpeedCoach XLs.

These visits have been a huge success and we are expanding our visits across the country. Are you near any of the regattas on NK's spring schedule? Do you want an NK pro to answer your questions, help with installation and troubleshoot problems? If your boathouse is not near any of the regatta locations, but you are attending one of regattas, email NK to come by your trailer for a regatta visit.

Avoid the rush and help better organize your Boathouse at the same time!

Now that the head race season has ended, and it's time to put all of your rowing equipment away for winter storage. Instead of just letting your units go back on the shelves, why not send them to us for a tune up? Wouldn't it be easier to go into spring training with all of your equipment fully functional?

The winter is probably the best time to send in any units that may need repair or tune up to NK. There is no rush for the next race and you can be sure your equipment will be good to go come spring training. December and January are the fastest months to get your products repaired or replaced.

Please visit our NK portal (https://www.nkportal.com/portal/portallogin.php) to create an account, if you have not already done so, and to register all of your products. The portal will help you keep track of what products your team has in stock, what products have previously been in for service and what products may need to come in. Once they are registered, you can get a return authorization (RA#) at any time to send your units in for repair.
