MID-YEAR BUSINESS REVIEW

At the end of this month, we are mid-way through 2010. Are you planning a business check-up? Here is what you may want to consider:

Forecast of income and expenses for Quarter 3 and Quarter 4. Review income and expenses from Quarters 1 and 2 to see where you are coming from, observe trends and plan for the remainder of the year.

Identify strategies for purposes of identifying cost drivers and profitability. What are your strongest revenue centers? How can you maximize these? In addition, what are the costs involved in these activities? Are they labor-driven, materials-driven? How can you keep costs down and maximize profits?

Identify opportunities and challenges. Is there a marketing avenue that you have not explored or perhaps a new avenue for your business to explore but yet keep the focus. In addition, what are your biggest challenges in running this business. List them along with possible solutions.

Explore financial strategies. What is limiting you from growing or causing a cash crunch? What can be done to plan for the future of your business based on its individual needs?

Running a business involves a thought process. This is what is meant by working "on" your business and not just "in" your business.
